A Book Offering Useful Hints and Helpful Ideas

A few years ago, Gail Greco wrote a book titled, "New Secrets of Entertaining", tips from America's Best Innkeepers. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and discovered many helpful and fun tips. Who better to learn from than America's best innkeepers? Under the heading of "coffee perks", I learned that, "Scents of cinnamon drift through the house when the coffee brews at Ash Mill Farm. One-quarter of a teaspoon of the spice is added to a ten-quart pot of coffee. This gives the coffee a nice flavor and cuts down on the bitterness. All of our guests think the coffee is a special blend. Add your own amount of cinnamon, according to taste." The Ash Mill Farm ----Another idea I have used, "For a pretty tea plate, dig up a violet from the yard and put it in a little crock(or a votive holder) on the plate with the tea treats. The plants survive nicely in the house for several days and can then be replanted in the garden." Sage Cottage ----From the Lanaux House, I was reminded of, "A warm, sparkling smile outshines any decor or cuisine." Just a few tips and reminders from a special book. Happy Tuesday!

Your post just reminded me that I have that book and love the ideas it offers. However, I had put it away and kinda forgot about it. I am going to go find it in my bookshelves and get re-acquainted. Thanks for the reminder.

Also, that's a beautiful coffee cup in your photo.

Hey Judy! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! My beautiful apron and tee towel arrived on Monday. It's absolutely beautiful and I can't wait to wear it. I've already had it on, but will have to wait for someone to take a picture of me in it. I tried a self portrait, but my arms aren't long enough and I don't know how to set the timer to take one that way. It couldn't be more perfect! I'm headed out tomorrow to see my girls, but will try and catch up and do better at blogging when I return. I will try the cinnamon tip while I'm at my daughter's house. She loves cinnamon in her coffee and I'm buying her a new coffee pot for her birthday! Thank you again soooo very much. Talk to you soon!
Hugs,
Elizabeth
