I am continuing on my cupboard cleaning and organizing binge.  Look what I found in the
old attic chest.  Our daughter's Beatrix Pottery dishes.  I studied the detailed pictures on
each and every piece, and found it most interesting.

Beatrix Potter was born on July 28, 1866.

She wrote and illustrated more than 20 children's books,
starring Peter Rabbit, Jemima Puddle-Duck,
and Benjamin Bunny.

Each piece of this English fine bone china, tells a story.

Treasures of Home

"With Pomp, Power & Glory the world beckons vainly,

In chase of such vanities why should I roam?

With Peace & Content bless my little thatched cottage,

And warm my own hearth with the Treasures of Home."

~Beatrix Potter

Speaking of "peace, content, and a warm hearth, "...this scene depicts it all perfectly.
I got to spend some time with my nephew, his wife, and their dear little daughter on
Saturday afternoon.  The scene I found in the early afternoon at the farm, and it
warmed my heart.

We are still waiting for the arrival of our grandson.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

I wish you, your own "thatched cottage" to return home to today.

Good morning! I LOVE Beatrix Potter. And those dishes are priceless. I just recently ordered the whole set of designs from her for embroidery on my sewing machine. I think they would just make a DARLING baby girl quilt! I am soo hoping that my daughter will eventually get to add a little girl to her family and I will have an excuse to make it up for her. Meanwhile, I guess I just have them just in case, lol. LOVE that picture of your nephew...JUST precious! Enjoy your day Judy!

My daughter just recently dropped off a few precious things she wants me to keep here while they head out to the other side of the world. Amongst these things was an almost identical set of dishes that were gifted to her as a baby.
they certainly have not ben used as much as my plastic kids dishes but there is something about them that you want to hand on to them.
Maybe they will see a third generation of babies yet.
All the best as you wait for your little guy to appear.

When our first grandchildren were due in 1995, I set up & decorated a nursery in one of the bedrooms in my own home, selecting a Beatrix Potter theme. It turned out so cute. It saddened me when I eventually dismantled it.

How exciting that you're near to adding yet another wee one to your collection. It's a magical time for a family.

Many blessings & hugs,
Kathleen
