It was a sunny, balmy Sunday afternoon on the porch of the old farmhouse.  Family and
friends gathered to celebrate the upcoming birth of another little niece.

With stellar weather conditions, creative minds of the mother and two sisters, and the
combining of their old linens, dishes, and crystal, produced a lovely baby shower setting.

The clothes line strung along the side of the porch, made the perfect backdrop for the food
table.  Starched clothing pieces from family members many years ago, hung on the line. 

The sun streaming through the articles of clothing, was the most beautifying aspect of the
afternoon shower.  Fresh, colorful and delicious food, filled the linen covered table.

On the bottom shelf of the old hutch, was more family memorabilia and flea market finds, were  cleverly displayed on the old lace covering.

My sister-in-law and her daughter, the recipient of the pretty baby shower.  My niece lives
in the south, so every visit home, is treasured by all.

At the mother-to-be's request, skewers of donut holes and fresh fruit were served.
I liked that idea! 

Tiny, scrumptious cupcakes from Tara's kitchen, are always treasures when added to
an event.

Sweet, ripe fruit skewers are an attractive way to serve nature's finest.

Vintage flowered coffee and tea cups, added another unique touch.

What could be better than using grandma's dishes?  Pretzel sticks dipped in pink chocolate,
were favors at each place setting.  I wondered who made the chocolates and who so
carefully ironed all the old linens?  Both time consuming jobs, but both contributed to
the elegance of the event.

It was so good to catch up with friends.  As I sat there in the afternoon breeze, I honestly
felt overcome with emotion, remembering back just a few years ago, when it was my
sister-in-laws and me that were the recipients of baby showers, and now it was the next
generation.  And, like I've mentioned many times before on my blog, whenever I am
privileged to sit on this old farm porch, I never want my time to end.  It instantly takes
one back to a time many years ago, and it's quiet, peaceful setting, does much to relax
and calm one's heart.

 

Pink sugar, white and pink peonies, and pink embroidered linens, are items etched in my
memory bank, from yesterday's step back in time baby shower.
