Today a special little guy in my life, had his 4th birthday. We celebrated by having a simple birthday dinner with the theme of "Toy Story". We had "Toy Story" paper plates and a homemade centerpiece with pictures of him and his brother on the evening they saw the movie together.

As for the birthday cake, it truly was a quick, easy and fun creation for him.

I took a tin roasting pan and turned it upside down.

I took ice cream sandwiches and made a winding road on top of the pan. I purchased a pack of Hot Wheel cars on special at the grocery store, and two tiny Toy Story cars from the toy store. I placed them on the ice cream sandwich road. Wrote happy birthday with some gel icing, and added four colored candles. It was stored in the freezer until it was time to sing to him.

Won't ever make a Martha Stewart How-To book, but it was a hit on this fun, but busy evening.

One of the copied pictures that I used as a centerpiece. This is an expression this little guy uses often. He just seems to enjoy life and for now..."Toy Story".

*The above picture was added by a daughter who is extremely grateful for the constant outpouring of loving and creativity lavished into the lives of her children by her mother.
Thank you, Mom, for making birthdays SO much FUN (and for making dinner for all of us so I don't have to!!!).
