Welcome "Spring"

This nest is one of my favorite "Spring" decorations. The vibrant colors and the butterfly brighten my kitchen counter.

My mother had some flan pans that she used many times in her food preparations. She would make many different combinations with these pans. I have one of her pans and purchased one at Walmart. One boxed cake mix makes two flans(I hope I am using the right word for this pan). I always bake two of them and put one in the freezer for a time when I need a quick dessert. If you only own one of these pans, you can bake them one at a time.

I bake them in a preheated 350 degree oven for 18 -20 minutes, then I invert them onto whatever plate or pedestal plate that I wish. The shape of these cakes are so pretty and make it easy to fill with whatever filling you choose. Tonight I used a devil's chocolate cake, filled it with 2 small boxes of instant pistachio pudding, topped it with Cool Whip and some pastel flower decorettes. This combination is delicious, and tastes even better after sitting in the refrigerator for a day or two. Sometimes I use a yellow cake mix, with vanilla pudding, sliced fresh strawberries or peaches, and Cool Whip over the top. Sometimes I fill the center cavity with balls of ice cream and drizzle with chocolate syrup.

I like the way this cake looks when it is completed, even though it is a quick, easy and fun dessert to make. If guests stop in unexpectedly you can take the other cake out of the freezer and create an instant dessert.

The only flowers blooming at my house now are the ones on this tree. I am not sure of the name of this tree, but I do look forward to it blooming every Spring. I marvel how a tree with all brown branches turns into one of such beauty.

One of my good friends gave this precious little crystal bunny votive holder, along with a bag of jelly beans. I think it looks so cute filled with these little candies.

A few years ago my husband bought this bunny for me at a gift shop in Virginia. She sits on the table in my foyer and makes me smile every time I walk past her. The vintage bottle was a gift to me from my sister.

I close this post with one more picture of my flowering tree. All of the above pictures are reminders to me that Springtime has arrived and the special, meaningful Easter season is almost here. God is creating beauty all around us, after our long, cold Winter.

I just love your house in the Spring! It just seems like a spring house...with all the cheerful pinks and greens. The bunny reminded me of all the years of waking up on Easter morning to a challenging basket hunt (the challenging part thanks to dad and the beautiful baskets thanks to you!).:) Thank you for giving me such a wonderful childhood and priceless memories! And thanks for the great cake idea...love easy and pretty desserts. Love you mom!

Your cake looks yummy. I really like the idea of keeping one in the freezer. My mother in law always had wonderful things in her freezer. No matter when you showed up she could pull something delicious out to share.

Your Easter decorations are very cute. :) Your tree is amazing.

Wonderful ideas, as always! I just picked up one of these pans last week on a thrift store visit. What a great idea to make two and freeze one! Your cake was so pretty and perfect for spring! Love that flowering tree and your Spring and Easter decorations. I love how everything of spring speaks of rebirth...what a beautiful parallel to the celebration of Christ's resurrection!

Aww, I wish I were there with you enjoying all those special things.

I love the photos!

I'm excited about Good Friday and Resurrection Sunday. Such a special time of year -- incredibly special because it's all about the revelation of our LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST in our lives and the absolutely beautiful and amazing sacrifice He made for us -- that we would live!!! Praise His Name!

I love you Sis.
