Our paths crossed a few years ago in the blogging world, although we never met in person.
She emailed me some weeks ago, informing me that she and her husband planned
on being in our part of the country on October 7th, and wondered if we could
meet somewhere.  We were thrilled and said, "that we would love to have
 them come for dinner".
Now, I don't know if you are like me, but it proves to be an interesting
happening to cook and prepare dinner for a couple one never met before,
even though I felt like I knew them from my years of blog visits.
She is Lorraine, and her blog is ... www.gratefulprayerthankfulheart.blogspot.com/
I could not believe that I was having the privilege of meeting a second blogger
in person within a few weeks time.
The last couple that we were privileged to meet, were Judy, from... http://judys-front-porch.blogspot.ca/   and her husband, Elmer.

Within minutes, it felt like we were old friends.  Throughout the dinner conversation, we discovered
that we had much in common as couples;
We were both married to guys named "John".
John and Lorraine were celebrating their 38th wedding anniversary, and we had celebrated our
38th in April.
They met on a blind date and we did too.
They grew up living close to each other and so did we.
They have four daughters and almost 11 grandchildren, and we have three daughters and almost 9
grandchildren.

Interestingly, our husbands never ran out of things to talk about either.

What a privilege it was for us to be able to help them celebrate their wedding anniversary, at a simple
dinner around our kitchen table.

If you have the privilege of visiting Lorraine's blog, you will quickly come to the conclusion that
she truly is one gifted lady!   I admire her cooking, knitting, and decorating talents, that she
so skillfully shares.  Her love of her family, friends and her God, flow throughout her beautifully
done posts, and artistically captured photography.
She knitted a rose for the top of a lovely covered container and filled it with homemade chocolate
chip biscotti.  I felt so blessed by her kindness.

As I was driving in the country early this morning, I was reminded again of the amazing ways
things happen in life.  I had to thank God for my daughter's persistence that I start a blog,
way back in May 2008, and felt an overwhelming sense of gratitude for all the wonderful
people I met through my blog, although most of them I never met in real life.  I thought of all that
I continue to learn from each of you, all the inspiration I gain, and all the times I feel my
spirits lifted by what you all write.
Meeting John and Lorraine was a gift we are most thankful for.  We won't forget them.

Thank you for stopping by today and the many times you all do.  I can't tell you how much
it means to me, whether you have time to comment or not.  As I looked back over my
posts since 2008, I realized that some of you have been with me for a very long time:)
It is like you are growing old with me and my family.

Happy Tuesday!

I love reading posts about blogging friends meeting! I have only met one of mine in person, but we felt an instant bond! I too love Lorraine's blog.. You both have such peaceful, lovely blogs I can see how you'd be drawn to each other... But after hearing your similarities I just have to throw in mine, haha Married to a Jeff ~ close to John ~ married thirty eight years and met on a blind date! And 4 children and 11 grandchildren! Pretty good huh? And while we did not grow up near each other, he went to college in the state where I was born and actually knew some of the same people. And our biggest connection of all? Love of our Lord and Savior! Doesn't get better! Happy for both of you that you met!

It's all just such a blessing. I have yet to be disappointed in blogging friendships. I always tell the way I started my blog as part of our mennonite girls story. God has brought us to this place for a reason and I like you am truly thankful.
I love the way you invite people into your home. You and your husband have the gift of hospitality.

We are still smiling as we think of the most lovely evening spending time with you and John! Thank you so much, Dear Judy, for opening your home to us and making some very special memories that we will cherish :)

We are brought into each others paths for a reason often only God knows...at first :-)

Such a special meet-up. I am a bit jealous here. Bloggers do seem like friends don't they?

I came here from Lorraine's blog - and I'm so glad I did! I loved reading about the time you and your hubbies spent together. I love meeting and spending time with blog friends. There is nothing like it. I'll be back to visit again. Often.

How wonderful! I've made some of the best of friends in cyberspace, so to actually meet my favorites in person is high on my Bucket List. So far I've only met a handful, but ... I think you & I still have a date for iced tea on your porch?!!

What fun!!! (and I know, shame on me for only NOW catching up on this!). You two ladies ALSO have in common the gift of aging beautifully. You look FAR younger than your actual age (which is also still young ;)

Loved that you are meeting all these faces behind the commenters/blogs. ;)

GREAT post, mom!
