It was a Sunday evening "Christmas" dinner.
It was an annual event for six couples and we all look forward to it every year.
The host and hostess took three folding tables and arranged them to make one large "table".
Each and every arrangement and favor was put together by the artistic hostess.
Magnolia leaves were featured everywhere, adding their own beauty to everything. That intriqued me, since I never think to use magnolia leaves in my Christmas decorating.
Softly lit candlelight vignettes were placed around the rooms.
Our hostess took ribbons and Christmas ornaments and created a touch of "magic" with them.
The blue, white, and silver tablescape was exceptionally beautiful!
Our gracious host and hostess certainly possess the gift of hospitality. Their warm welcome and genuine interest in each and every guest, made it an honor and privilege to be invited into their home.
Delicious yogurt, served with fresh fruit and granola were part of the appetizer selection.
Ordinary fruits dressed up for a special occasion.
Our hostess grew up in the South. She served us a "glorified grits" recipe that my husband is still raving about. She had such attention to detail, portraying to each of us that she cared.
She raised three fine sons. Her and her husband are now empty nesters, and entering a new chapter in their lives. And, they're handling it with such grace and style.
The flickering lights of the Christmas tree can make any room look cozy and inviting. As we gathered in the home on Sunday evening, we all came with heavy hearts from the horrific news of the past week. It is amazing how friendship, care, laughter, and prayers can lift one's spirits. It did that for all of us on this particular evening.
My sister so skillfully took each of these pictures. Really, she is quite gifted at capturing moments.
I thought I would share this picture of my husband and I, and take this time to wish each and everyone of you, a Merry Christmas! We wish you times spent just enjoying each other...time to listen to each other...time to let others around you know that you really care and appreciate them. More than ever, we need each other. Material things, food, and entertainment are secondary.
Most of all, may we never forget the real reason why there is a "Christmas";
"Come to Bethlehem and see
Him whose birth the angels sing:
Come adore on bended knee,
Christ, the Lord, the newborn King.
Gloria, in excelius Deo."
~Traditional French Carol

There's nothing like getting together with a group of friends at this time of the year! And it looks like you had the best of places to do just that...with amazing food and great fellowship.

It looks like your sister may, truly, be good at capturing moments, but you certainly do rival her in MAKING moments.
What a fun tradition!
(I am always amazed at how Martha Stewartish is all of your family & friends. So cool!)
