School was out for the summer.
It was a perfect Sunday afternoon, and we all headed for a local state park to fish.
Five little ones, and one very patient instructor.
A brief lesson was given.
The first practice cast was executed.. Laughter erupted as the line hit and wrapped around the
oar of a nearby boat.
Each one took their new responsibility seriously.
Although, some had their own unique style.
Sunday afternoon fishing at it's finest! While no fish were caught, lots of seaweed was reeled
in:)
As their father supervised, their mother was the overseer. A most important role
considering the deep lake and five enthusiastic young children:).
The picnic followed, with bacon/lettuce and tomato sandwiches, along with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. After the meal, it was fresh strawberry shortcake.
A memorable way to pass time on a warm Sunday afternoon.
As we drove home, we inhaled the sweet aroma of the flowering honeysuckle that lined the country roads.
There's just something wonderful about the summertime.
Thanks for stopping by.

Sounds like the perfect way to spend the day with 5 little ones. That picnic must have been delicious! Don't you think food tastes so much better outside? :)
This looks like the most perfect day Judy, wonderful photos of a wonderful family
It doesn't get any better than that! I remember our kids going to the lake on vacation in the hill country of Texas when they were little, and catching their first fish. It is still a highlight for all of us. We shampooed our hair and jumped in the lake to rinse it, as we swam around and cooled off. Yep... summer is special. :)
I can still taste those BLT's you so kindly provided! Yum!! What a fun afternoon. Loved the pictures...esp. of Annie. ;)
Looks like a wonderful way to start off the summer.
Strawberry shortcake, country roads and the scent of honeysuckle... doesn't get much better than that.
A perfect Sunday afternoon for sure with some mighty cute kiddos. Happy week!
What a perfect 'end of school' celebration. I can almost taste those BLT sandwiches as well. :) Wishing them all a wonderful summer...away from the books. Our kiddos have school until June 25th over here.
