The drive took about two hours.  My husband and I looked forward to an evening with friends.
The "welcome" was warm and gracious.  The host and hostess of the evening, made us feel
happy to have walked through the front door.  It was the second time we spent time together,
and blogging brought us together.  Imagine that!

The décor in their home, instantly appealed to my spirit.  It was cozy, inviting, light, and
calming in it's style.  The interesting part about it, was that this couple did all the decorating
themselves, over the many years they have lived in this home.  I asked if I could take some
pictures, that I knew would inspire and encourage others, with the benefits of garage sales
and paint brushes?

Can you believe a room can look like this one, and be decorated by garage sale purchases, and
finds by the side of the road?  This hostess is one gifted lady!  She shared stories about how and where she found the pieces that graced her home.  Each story fascinated
me, especially as I saw what a can of paint, and hours of time could do to each piece.
Every room we walked into, was so beautifully done!

Her husband did the wooden floors.  Together, they created the space around the woodstove,
which provides the heat for their home.  The furniture in this room, came from her mother's
home years ago.  The host also, installed windows on each side of the fireplace, even though
he had never tackled a project like it.  I inquired how he knew what to do, and he replied, "the
benefit of the DIY instructions on the Internet.

Upon walking into the lovely decorated dining room, I found our husbands involved in
their own conversation.  They never once seemed to run out of things to talk about.

What a picture perfect plate of food, that tasted as good as it looked!

Here we are, two grandmas, that just happen to be bloggers, and who were blessed to
spend a few hours together, enjoying one special evening.

You too, can serve this exceptional tasting "Peach Melba Trifle", by
visiting her blog.  You will be happy you did!  So will those you
share it with.

One more fun aspect of our evening, was the honor of having
their seventeen year old grandson join us.  We enjoyed visiting with him,
and learned that he is quite skilled at the Rubik Cube.  In fact, his
average time for accomplishing it's completion, is 16 seconds.
We were amazed at his ability, and now we want to go and
purchase our own Rubik Cube.

Thank you for the privilege of sharing our visit with this kind and
very gifted couple.

Ah Judy what fun to have spent time together, I love both your blogs and often admire your beautiful homes from afar! It's great to know that Lorraine has acquired so much of her beautiful furniture from garage sales etc as we are decorating and furnishing our little cottage in the same way. Thankfully my husband is a whizz on ebay :) and great at DIY!
