Just a little something for you today!
A good friend of our family passed away last week at the age of 65.
He contracted Lou Gehrig's disease and suffered greatly with it the last few years.
Many kind words have been spoken about our friend, and we could add many to it.
These words on the front of the Memorial Service program;
"What we do for ourselves dies with us.
What we do for others and the world
remains and is immortal."
Our friend was always giving to others. Always looking out for the other person,
even through the ravages of the disease that took his life.
So, today, I want to share something with you. No strings attached.
My beautiful niece creates and makes unique, hand stamped jewelry in her home.
I asked her to make a necklace for me to give away to you.
I asked her to have the words on it;
"Each new day is a gift", because it is.
I asked her to have a pearl on it, because when I see a pearl, it encourages me.
It typically takes three to five years to grow a pearl.
Pearls develop from an irritant--typically a parasite of some sort--in the oysters shell.
I think of the irritants that make up our daily lives, and I think to
myself, that somehow beauty will come out of those very irritations.
Pearls remind me of that.
I asked her to include a tiny cup and saucer, because in my life, times of drinking
a cup of coffee or tea, whether alone or with good friends, always provides times
of inspiration and is a way to lift my spirits.
I also asked her to include a small aquamarine which is my birthstone. A tiny way
for you to think of me when you see the necklace.
She did an exceptional job in creating this piece for my give-away.
If you like her work as much as I do(actually the pictures do not do it justice),
all you have to do is leave me a comment. That is it!
On Saturday afternoon, my husband will draw a name and we will announce
the winner. A little something done in memory of our friend, who gave so
much to others and now faces a bright new day in heaven.
Just in case you want to visit her site and see what she has to offer. I admire the
talents of my nieces and nephews, and am happy to share them with you,
my blogging friends.
"Remember everyday is a gift. Hold it, unwrap it, cherish it, and most of all, use it."
Thank you so much for stopping by.
Whether you stop by often or this is your first time, please feel free to comment,
for an opportunity to win this pretty piece of jewelry.

What precious words and what a beautiful necklace! Aquamarine is also MY birthstone!!!
Hi Judy, Firstly I am sorry for your loss-such a horrid disease. I love the necklace and would love a chance to win it-my birthstone is the same as yours. I am going to see your nieces work-simply beautiful! I pray you have a wonderful day.
Hugs, Noreen
So very sorry for you lose! So very.....very....sad!
Your words....spoke deeply to me today...as we continue on this cancer journey with my dad!
First of all I am sorry to hear about your friend. And I l love the quote on the front of the memorial piece. What true words those are! And then what a sweet, nice thing for you to do. But then that doesn't surprise me as you have such a giving spirit about you that is ALWAYS apparent on your blog. And the necklace is soo pretty! How I love pearls, but I didn't know that is why they are formed. That was quite interesting. Whoever wins it will be quite blessed I am sure. I am off now to check out her sight, Hope you have a good day!
I am so sorry for the loss of a friend and that horrible disease. You are so thoughtful to give such a beautiful necklace I would love to wear it and I love the site. Have a wonderful weekend.

I am so sorry for the loss of your friend, Judy. The words from the memorial service program gave me food for thought today. So true and a good reminder.
The necklace your niece made is so pretty and made even prettier by the thought you and she put into each piece. I know the lucky winner will be blessed to receive it.
The disease is horrific; that your friend is whole again in heaven is reason for celebration. May the good works be celebrated always!
Hi Judy....I'm new to your blog and I am enjoying immensely what you share through your words and pictures. Thank you. I've seen your neice's work while perusing etsy ! You have a wonderfully talented family. Thanks for sharing them with me. Lisa S.
Oh my...first of all I want to say I am sorry for your loss Judy. It is so hard to see those we love suffer.
There is someone from my church who was just diagnosed and he is in his 30's. It is just so sad.
You have designed a beautiful piece of jewellery which your niece did a beautiful job of creating. You continue to inspire with your kind ways.
I love the comment on the program for the service. I'm going to pass it on to my cousin who lost her husband last week...it would also be fitting for him. Pretty sure it describes you as well!!
I really love the necklace, so creative! I especially love the tea cup as I used to drink tea with my Momma as a little girl..I inherited about twenty china tea pots!!
Hugs!
This is such an inspiring post. I love the details you thought of in deciding what should be part of the necklace. It is beautiful!
That quote about what yu have done for others is what sill be left behind.. . is an idaal to strive for.
May God's comfort be near...
