My husband had the opportunity to visit an old building that was about to be torn down.
He came home with two catalogs.
This one is from the year that I was born.

It is a Sears, Roebuck and Co., Spring and Summer catalog.
It was in good condition and I enjoyed looking through it.

Here the girls fashions are for the sizes 3 - 6X...the sizes I now buy for my granddaughters.
Pretty little dresses with prices starting at $ 1.98 each.

Interestingly, this was the message on the front cover.
Rather ironic since I could not believe ALL the changes that had taken place in the last fifty some years.

Could be some of today's colors.

Really...this was the style of the wash machines in the year I was born.
I am sure my daughters will have fun with this.
They will be more convinced than ever, that I am quite old:)

Can you imagine buying a new wash machine today for $ 139.95?

This page made me smile as I so clearly remember seeing the same rug sets in my grandma's powder room.    In fact, if my memory serves me correctly, it was exactly like the peach middle set.
Grandma's powder room always smelled so good, with her Avon products lining the shelves.

What interesting shoe styles!

What do you think my grandsons would say if I would have given them one of these outfits for Christmas?

Apparently little girls wanted to look just like Dale Evans.  I think she would have been a good role model.

Yes, you could buy fruit from the Sear's catalog...

...and gorgeous roses.

For some reason, looking at this catalog was a good reminder of just how many changes I have seen in my lifetime.  Yes, the fashions were different, but the prices changed the most.

There were pages of guns for sale, also.  One could order a gun from the catalog and I would venture to guess, that there weren't any backgroud checks either.  For 28.00 one could buy a gun from a mail order catalog.  Interesting.

I am sorry Sears,  Roebuck, and Co., things have changed considerably in our world.  I know for a fact, I certainly have.

So good to have you stop by.  Is there anyone out there that would have memories of this catalog?

Tomorrow I will share his other find.  That is a Fall/Winter Montgomery Ward Catalog from 1922/23.

Good Morning Judy! I don't remember that specific catalog. I definitely do remember getting the Sears catalog and the Montgomery Wards catalog though. It was so much fun to mark the pages of things we wanted. Never got much of it of course, but it was fun!

I like to look at old things like that. :)

I love looking at old catalogue's and
this one is just great! I am looking forward to seeing the next one. Your photo's from a couple of days ago are beautiful. No snow here in the UK yet.

What a fun find! So glad your husband brought it home and you, in turn, shared it with us. Seeing those photos brought back many memories for me. I remember the catalog being a hot commodity for all kids before Christmas. There was no better book to look at and wish and dream as we made our list for Santa.
I'd love to see your grandchildren's faces if you suggested they wear any of those outfits. Ha Ha.

I recall paging through each new Sears Catalog as it arrived with my sister Jean. Such fun....and I still have the Dale Evans cowgirl outfit I wore as a very young girl...Memories!

How fun is that? I so enjoyed your little trip down memory lane via Sears Roebuck! I used to spend a lot of time 'window shopping' in catalogs when I was a kid. Thanks for sharing.

Boy do I ever remember the Sears Catalog! It was my BIBLE every December as a child. Then, as a young married wife, in 1975, I ordered almost all of my gifts for Christmas from the catalog. What great memories!

I enjoyed scrolling through these adds... it's amazing how things have changed! I have a children's book not quite that old, but it tells the story of a family shopping for a phone. You can imagine how funny that can be with all of the changes there in just the past generation!( like "look, here is a phone that I can carry from room to room!")
I remember my mom using a washing machine with the wringer on top such as the ones pictured.
