Do you ever ask yourself after a conversation with someone, "what were they really saying"?
Do you wish to become a better listener?  Do you ever wish, in the quiet moments of your
thinking, that you could be one of those friends who listened with their heart instead of your ears?

I read this quote recently and it spoke to me.
"Look into the depths of another's soul and listen, not only with our ears,
but with our hearts and imagination and silent love."    ~Joyce Kanelaskes

In our fast paced world that we find ourselves living in, when schedules are tight and demands are
great, people meet, words are exchanged, good byes are said.  A few hours later when thinking
back over the encounter, you find yourself thinking, " what were they really saying"?
A patient, thoughtful, in tune listener is a precious gift.

Praying today, that I learn to listen with my heart to those around me.  Just a little something
on my heart today.

Thank you for stopping by.

So true, I for sure need to be a better listener.... I think many people rather than really listening are thinking of their response instead.

I sit here wondering why, when Khloe talks to me, do I hang on every word??? It means I'm capable :-)

Hugs!

Debi, I think that was one of the things I was trying to express in this post, and that is we all want our words to matter to others. Your example was a good one!

Oh yes, I'm with you and Debi. We always want to have the right answer or encouraging word. Maybe we just need to listen more...I for one need to stop expressing my worries so often.

This was a GREAT post...Soo true. I think I have been guilty of that many times. Especially when I was younger. To REALLY listen, to REALLY hear another heart is a great gift in my opinion. Hope you enjoy your week-end!

What truth! The Lord gave us two ears and one mouth for a reason and I'm afraid that I am not the listener I need to be at times. Great post!

What a beautiful sentiment!

There's a reason my family used to call me "Chatty Kathy". Over the course of my 65 years I've had to learn the value of have two ears & one mouth.

Hugs,
Kathlee

Wonderful post, Judy! It is true that we might not really hear what is being said to us if we are only busy thinking of what we want to say next. B being a good listener is an art.
