One day a dear friend, Lisa stopped by unexpectantly and dropped off this nice red and white box.
The kindness was such a blessing to me on a ordinary weekday morning.
I put the box on the pantry shelf, along with the other goodies in her gift bag, and thought to myself, someday when guests stop in I will make it.
I do not advertise on my blog, but when I discover a product that I find exceptional, I share it.

Today, I am sharing this cake.  It has simple instructions, and all you need that is not provided, is the butter.  It makes a 9 x 13 inch pan cake.
When served warm, with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, it tastes so good!!!
It is the kind of product that I want to keep in my pantry, for times when you just need a quick, easy, and so delicious dessert.
If you do not live locally and want to order this product, you can find it at

Last night friends stopped in for a rare visit.  We sat at the kitchen table and caught up with each other's lives, and yes, we ate the warm cake, ice cream, and brown bag popcorn.  The popcorn is a low calorie snack, the cake and ice cream, not so much.
My friend is a scrapbooker extrordinaire, and she shared the latest book with me, on her newest grandson's first year.  I can't tell you how impressed I was, since I totally lack in the scrapbooking skills.  What a treasure the completed book it will be to this guy and his parents now and in his future.
Look what this good friend made for me, as she has so skillfully made for each of my other grandchildren.  A scrapbook for our newest little grandson.  All I need to do is to add pictures and document his first year of life.  A gift that keeps on giving, with the most creative detailing ever.

Here she used colorful buttons and cut off the back of them.  I think that adds a perfect touch to this page.

Stickers, rub-ons, buttons, ribbons, and colorful papers, all contained in a book for me to complete.  Oh, please pray that I complete it with as much skill and creativity as my friend did this book.  Please... really, I have the best intentions:)
The fun conversation, the warm-from-the-oven cake, and a beautiful new treasured book, all made for a memorable evening.
Thanks for stopping by.

It sounds like the best of times...good cake, good friends and a gift of a most beautiful scrapbook. I don't think you can possibly go wrong with completing the scrapbook for your looks amazing already!

What a wonderful and useful gift from your friend, Judy! All you have to do is add photos of your new grandson.
I used to scrapbook but blogging has taken me away from that hobby. If I decide to move my scrapbook supplies I'll make more effort to get back to it.

PS: The cake sounds delightful!

That is a great gift Judy how sweet of your friend to make it. I have never been into scrap booking, its not really big here in the UK but my daughter in South Africa made me a lovely book with our grandchildren in. Sadly its also quite expensive so she doesn't get to do much. But I do treasure the book she has made. That cake looks pretty good too!

Lindsey, You are right, scrapbooking can be expensive. This friend is in a group and they borrow from each other, and she finds the thriftiest ways to create. In fact, all the stickers on the last page I have pictured in my post, she found at a dollar store. But, I do understand, it can be expensive.

I love Shoofly cake mix! I think it tastes completely homemade! If you are talking about the Lisa that I think you are, I love her too! :) said...

This makes me wish I started doing scrapbooks years ago, not to mention that I wish I had more pictures of my own kids. THEIR kids will have pictures and videos that our kids never got. I think I was either clueless or even more, cameras and videos just were not available. I love these ideas!!
