Last evening we babysat for our grandchildren while their parents went to a company Christmas dinner.
I walked into their kitchen and they eagerly pulled me to the kitchen counter, to show me the ornaments they had made during the day on Saturday.
They were so proud of their creations and to me, they were beautiful!

Angels, Christmas trees, snowmen...baked and painted by their little hands.

I looked around my daughter's kitchen. I was so impressed with the warmth and coziness of the room. The old fashion vignette at the window above her sink added pleasure to my dish washing experience after serving dinner.

The vintage postcard and tiny red lights, along with the soft holiday music playing on the radio, were the perfect way to start out my week before Christmas.

.
On the other kitchen counter sat a box of vintage tree ornaments along with some evergreens and old votive holders,
I think she has an eye for decorating, especially the ability to create ambience throughout her home, despite the fact that six children fill the rooms of that home.
Children fill the holidays with wonder and excitement, and help me to see it all in a different light.

Fantastic decorations.. I am impressed with all that your daughter does with her children. My daughters love to do crafts and cooking with their childrens too. your daughters home does look so welcoming I expect you enjoyed your babysitting even more in such a pretty home.

I got a chuckle, when you said that you babysat over at your daughter's home. I love babysitting over at my daughter's home.
I can sit back and appreciate the ambiance.

Gee whiz willicker, mom, that was sure nice of you! I only wish you would have mentioned how gleaming the kitchen floor looked, since I had been mopping not only an hour before you got there, figuring that it was a good a time as any to whip out the old dusty mop and rusty bucket for my bi-annual 'see-what-the-floor-really-looks-like' experiment! ;) Thank you SO much for the reprieve!!! Love you.

Sounds like your daughter takes after her Mother! :)

I'm laughing at your daughter's comment! Things are looking most lovely at her home. I'm not sure how she finds time to create 'ambience'...and make Christmas crafts with the children.

I'm sure your grands were thrilled to have you come to their place. Mine always have so many things to show me!

I just love those little decorations your grandchildren made. I can imagine how excited they were to show you and your hubby. I don't know how your daughter does all she does or for that matter you either. My hubby and I were having coffee yesterday and saying how different Christmas seems now that our children and grandchildren are growing up. Ryan is already ten. We have our great grands but we don't get to see them as often as we like because our granddaughter is so busy with school and work. Enjoy those little ones while you can :>) I especially wanted to pop over to tell you how much I have enjoyed blogging with you. You are a very special lady indeed. I wanted to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year ♥

I would like to leave an additional comment, as I see people exclaiming over my doing 'crafts' with my children...and I cannot allow this erroneous picture to be painted any longer. The day we made those ornaments was after a week of pushing 'REPEAT PLAY" so many times on the DVD player, so little book reading, that I was guilted into doing SOMETHING that involved their little brains...and even so, as I'm stirring the flour, salt and water, I'm thinking "WHY I do I enjoy putting myself through such cruel and unusual punishment???"...but we made it through and now hopefully, when their future therapists ask them if their mother allowed them to express their creativity as small children, this memory will be there for the reasching and recalling. Hopefully. ;)

I am thinking how sweet the moment was when your grandchildren led you to their handmade ornaments. There's nothing like being surrounded by the excitement of children at Christmastime.
Your daughter amazes me with her many capabilities and even keeps her sense of humor in tact in the process. Thanks for sharing her Christmas decorations. It all looks so pretty.

It's GOT to be in the DNA. I'm thinking a transfusion might benefit me. While my home feels festive and holiday-ish, it cannot compare to the creative ambiance of you and your progeny. So lovely!

Great duty for grandparents too.

Blessings,
Kathleen
