Last Christmas my daughter gave me this sign. I thought it was a perfect gift. This Christmas, I hung it up and as I did I thought to myself, "Grandma just isn't baking as much as she used to." Grandma wants to bake, Grandma loves to bake, but Grandma just cannot bake as much as she used to. I bet everyone of you reading this post can understand this predicament that I find myself in:)

So now Grandma is developing some new habits, like when she is home over lunch time, she always eats a bowl of Vanilla Almond Special K cereal with chopped walnuts, blueberries, and skim milk.
Now, when these two little girls are at her home over lunch time, guess what?
They too eat Special K with blueberries and skim milk. They were not impressed with the chopped walnuts.
I feel so honored that they copy my taste in cereal.

They take it quite seriously...eating their cereal with me. The littliest one now uses a "big girl spoon" like we do. At age 2, the spoon seems a bit large, but she handles it well.

The older sister has mastered the cereal eating.
I know what you all are thinking now. Doesn't she wear bibs on them when they eat lunch?
She usually does, but she forgot on this occasion. She was probably thinking about all that she had to do yet that day:)

When you are 2 years old and eating cereal out of a big bowl, you just got to find a way to retrieve all of the remaining milk at the bottom of the bowl.
I bet even Emily Post did this at age 2...maybe not.
What is your favorite cereal?

When you're 57 and eating Vanilla Almond Special K for lunch, you pick up the bowl and drink the milk too. I want every last drop of that sweet milk that's left behind!! This is also my fave cereal! Sometimes I have it for breakfast and lunch!! Loved the post!

Lovely photo's Judy. I dont bake so much either...there is always somehting else to do. I love your idea of cereal for lunch. For breakfast I have bran flakes and blueberries and my daughter just told me that when they go to the farmers market in SOuth Africa Joseph (who's 5) askes for "Grandma's berries" how cute is that? I expect your grandchildren love calling in for 'lunch' with Grandma!

It may not be the healthiest choice, but nothing beats a good bowl of frosted mini wheats (especially when they are well frosted:)). So cute that they imitate you!

my fave cereal has always been frosted flakes (Tony the Tiger ones). But Cocoa Pebbles is a close second.
Enjoyed your post.

That sounds like a good lunch to me except for the skim milk part. The lowest I can go is 1%. :)
I haven't tried Vanilla Almond Special K, but it sounds good. I usually go with Multi Grain Cheerios preferably with fresh berries.
So cute how the girls are following in your footsteps with their cereal preferences.

Cheerio's is my favorite cereal and if I indulge my all time favorite is Trix or Corn Pops (sugar pops when I was a kid). Oh, I love granola, shredded mini-wheats and flake cereals but I'm still a kid a heart when it comes to cereal.
No, I don't bake as much as I used to. Goodness, what I didn't need to keep around when the children were growing up - never seemed to last real long.

Lunch at Grandma's house is great no matter what it is because there is LOVE sprinkled over everything.

The epitome of a grandmother's heart is expressed here. What greater joy than to watch our wee ones doing every-day things to the delight of our sight?

Your babies are precious, and I'm thinking their myriad memories will be of the times they traveled "over the river, and through the woods" to your house.

Hugs,
Kathleen
