Finally, I found time to decorate our home for Christmas. I choose a simple route when it comes to the holidays. I think it is fun to open the boxes in the attic and see what has collected over the years of life. Each item I pull out reminds me of someone or sometime from the past. I find myself feeling sentimental as I go about this routine each year.
I change things around each year, finding new places to put old things. Partly because I like change, and partly because I can't remember where I had it placed last year.:)
When I visited the Marshall's Homegoods Store back in October, I found this gold glittery manger piece. I knew right away that it would go perfect on my mantel, and now that I put it there, I think I was right. I put a string of tiny lights behind it, and added some greens beside it.
I like how this Merry Christmas fits this window and the colors of it fit perfectly in my kitchen eating area.
My black lantern sits on the small wooden table near the foyer. The red candle is battery operated and I like the warm glow it creates.
Many years ago, when we were just a family of five, my daughter's good friend created and sewed five stockings for us. I continue to hang them on the stair railing every Christmas, even though our family has grown considerably since then. I don't fill them. They hang there because they are so pretty and fit in my room perfectly.
I hestitate to share my tree with you. You see, I prefer real, big, good smelling Christmas trees, but I am also realistic in my thinking. We have two little guys in our family who love to crawl and another little one who will be visiting our home this year. Not only that, we have a wedding in early January so clean up has to be kept at a minimum. So, this year we pulled out an older faux tree that my parents used as their tree. It came from our attic and already had the lights on it. So simple and works well for me this year. I am just happy to have completed decorating it.
Another one of the other vignettes I placed in the living room.
I only shared these decorations with you, because I enjoy seeing each of your homes and how you share your Christmas decorating with the blogging world.
Hope you liked your visit today.
