Early Saturday morning drive to breakfast.  The first weekend in April, and two "older" people
headed out to celebrate yet another wedding anniversary.  Yes, we truly are soon going to
be celebrating 41 years together.  Not a fancy celebration this year.

But, a memorable one.  We visited a local restaurant that we have wanted to visit for a long
time, but just never happened.  On this dismal morning, the lights inside cast a welcoming
beacon for us.

From the moment we walked in the front door, until the time we drove out of the driveway,
we had a most memorable time.

This small, fifties restaurant has had many great reviews since it first opened it's doors a few
years ago.  Oldies music softly played in the background as we chose where we wanted to sit.
We were only the second party in the restaurant.  All through our married years, early morning breakfasts are part of our daily routine.  The pretty blond server greeted us with a warm smile, and a
hot cup of coffee.

Everywhere we looked where memorabilia from our past.  We talked about how clean and perfectly decorated the room was!

The menu offered endless favorites for us, and as often happens when we eat out, my husband
asked me to order for him.  Yes, you heard me right.  He cannot choose from a menu with too
many great choices, and ordering one of every entrée just does not work.  So, once again, I
make the food choice for him.  By the way, this is the only area of daily life where this happens
for us:).

I could not stop looking at the attention to detail that the owners did in creating
this fun restaurant.

As a young girl, I remember this clock in my grandma's kitchen.  Isn't it interesting how just looking
at an item can trigger one's memory?  Both of us so enjoyed our visit, that we put off leaving as
long as possible.

As we drove home, we couldn't help but remember the song with the words, "listen to the
rhythm of the falling rain..."  What fun to hear so many old songs while eating our breakfast.

"Spring is when you feel like whistling even with a shoe full of slush."  ~Doug Larson

Forty one years...endless changes.  We thought we knew so much as we began our
lives together.  We were full of energy and looked forward to ALL that was
ahead.

Now, we look at so many things differently.  We have come to appreciate every day that
we celebrate together, and we know that the fact that we are still together and continue
to enjoy life with each other, is a gift from God.
We've watched our parents say goodbye to their partners in deep sadness.
We've watched our friends loose partners that they loved dearly.

"Love at first sight is easy to understand.  It's when two people
have been looking at each other for years that it becomes a miracle."
~Sam Levenson

Thanks so much for stopping by today!  I am not sure why you do, but I
do appreciate your comments and emails to me.

Wishing you moments of joy in the midst of daily life!

Just the sweetest, loveliest post as you enjoy the gift of long love. John and I are driving to a funeral as I write and we are aware of the passing time you talk about. Your breakfast looked so fun and one we would also enjoy. And the cat clock with the moving eyes and tail is a familiar sight to me. My grandmother and aunt had the same one in their homes. :) happy anniversary to a very dear couple!

Happy Anniversary to you and your husband, Judy. You may think I am just kidding when I say that you have barely changed since your early marriage photo, but I am not. You don't seem to age at all. You are such a beautiful lady!
The restaurant you chose to celebrate your special day looks like a lot of fun. I can imagine the memories it evoked for you both as you reflected over the years of your marriage.

Happy Anniversary! I often stop by your blog but am not sure if I ever commented. In May my husband and I will celebrate our 41st anniversary too. Love your celebration breakfast. Sounds like a great start to another year!

Happy Anniversary, you two! That looks like a fun way to celebrate...with a walk down memory lane. Love the quote by Sam Levenson...so true!

Now you have me singing...'Listen to the rhythm of the falling rain...telling me just what a fool I've been...'
