This is an old canning jar carrier that I have had for many years. Bought it one year for pennies at an antique store that was going out of business. Each summer I retrieve it from my attic.

I also collect my old blue canning jars. My friends bought them for me at a farm auction a few years ago. I use them for flowers over the summer and for luminaries along my front sidewalk in the winter. Yesterday I put them in this old carrier and ...

...filled them with flowers from my garden and some from a roadside stand. It is a fun way to add pizazz to something old. Maybe I need to wear some bright colored flowers:)

What a difference some lovely colored flowers and blooms can make to some canning jars. I just love giving these jars new looks over the summer. It is a bit like dressing my paper dolls when I was younger. My peonies and my roses bring me many smiles.

When I set this on my kitchen island, it feels and smells like the outdoors has come in.

This exquisite rose is from the bush outside my back door. My SIL purchased and planted for me years ago. Each year as it produces these gorgeous roses, I am reminded of him. He said it was a thank you for allowing him to spend a summer here before him and my daughter got married. Perfect thank you gift in my mind. One that keeps giving year after year.

Before their season of blooming is over, I just can't get enough photos of these peonies.
Thank you for stopping by again today. I cannot believe it is Friday already. Time just seems to go by so quickly. Hope your Friday is a good one!

Gorgeous! Absolutely beautiful. I wouldn't expect anything less because it has your special touch!

Thanks for sharing GOD's beauty in flowers with us as always.

That rack/jars makes me think of how plain and unappealing I look until you see JESUS in me! He is the beauty that shines through.

Love you.

That looks just beautiful sitting in the middle of your table, Judy. I am so glad to see this idea today. You see, I have a carrier and blue jars like that in my attic and have thought about trying this very idea. Until now it has just been a thought. I can assure you I will be heading to the attic today to retrieve it.
The story about the rose from your SIL is so sweet. I love that he bought it and also planted it for you. He sounds like a very nice young man. I'll have to share this idea with my sons :-).

Judy the beautiful garden wedding we went to in Virginia last weekend used blue canning jars full of flowers as a decoration ( photos are on my blog under the post "Home again ..and a Wedding Story") They used roses and big scarlet peonies like yours among other flowers. It looked so pretty!

I like how almost everything you have or use has a nice family related story about it. They are all wonderful memory treasures.

How original and pretty. You must have very green fingers to have all those flowers in your garden blooming so successfully. TFS.

I can almost smell them...and so pretty! Now I wish I had those blue jars back...the ones I parted with when we moved. At the time I thought down-sizing 'stuff' was a good idea.

Curt was so happy to purchase that rose bush for you. It was the very least he could do after all you are to our family. So kind of you to mention him in this beautiful, colorful, eye catching post!
(and I would be remiss to mention that handy pencil set Matt gave you for Mother's Day 3 years ago. I'm sure you still reach for those knobby little no.2 lead wonders every now and then.)

I'll tell you what, girl: I have trouble figuring out how you ever do laundry, or scrub floors. I have this mental picture of you sauntering about home & yard in cotton capris, a whispy pink blouse, and blinged-out slippers - sort of like a fairy (a GOOD fairy)!

Fabulous photos!

Hugs,
Kathleen

I just love your flowers in the canning jars. I have been waiting for my peonies to open but we have had so much rain I will have to cut them as soon as they start to open or the rain will beat them down. I hope to post pictures on my blog soon. I may copy your idea and use my blue jars. Thanks for sharing.
