Simple country pleasures were created last night at our
BIL and Sister's home on the farm. It was a perfect summer evening with swimming in the pond and...

...relaxing on the dock.

Quiet conversations between the generations, and...

...lots of good picnic food. One could use their fingers if they wanted to.

There were baseball games in the meadow, and...

...fireflies being caught in the lawn.

Closing out the evening was the tradition of the bonfire, in the meadow by the pond...

...The night sky cast a soft glow on the house and landscape. I wanted to stay all night.

As tradition has it, the marshmellows were roasted on the fire, and when they were ready, they were placed on the graham crackers and chocolate. Even the youngest in the group were thrilled with this treat.

Conversations flowed freely, and laughter echoed in the valley.
Memories were created once again on this farm in the country. Hospitality in it's truest form was shared again last evening.

That looks like the best way to celebrate the 4th of July! The family together...with good food and good weather...and a bonfire and smores to top it off!

Beautiful pictures, mom! Especially the one of Gabe holding up the Stewart's bottle with the bee inside. I mightthank you for not including one with me in my swim-wear...that was quite generous of you!!!
It was a fun evening, and I'm sure it quickly became a relaxing one at our departure. ;) The children and I had such a cool experience riding home...we followed a hot air balloon and eventually drove right under it!! I pulled over and the children waved out the window and the riders in the basket waved back.
