Friends, Food and Fellowship

Friendship ain't just claspin' hands,
and saying"How'de do,"
Friendship grips a feller's heart,
And warms him thro' and thru!
As friends, we met many years ago, discovered we lived in the same apartment complex, and were married the same year. Found out we were each having a baby about the same time. Had baby showers for each other. Were thrilled to each give birth to little girls. Learned mothering skills from each other. Now, years later, those same "little girls", are now mothers of little ones. We were invited to my daughter's home for lunch last week, and what fun we all had together. The above photo is my dear friend, her daughter, and her precious granddaughter.

Me, my daughter and my granddson. Her two daughters were taking their afternoon naps.

We had a wonderful lunch of taco salad with seasoned hamburger. Grilled garlic bread and fresh strawberry parfaits for dessert. We had a great time talking, laughing, reminicing and an added bonus of my dear friend pampering us with make-up and hand massages. She is a beauty consultant and she treated us to a no-obligation type pampering.

When we were ready to leave, we were each given gifts of fresh peach coffee cake and small boxes of french vanilla coffee as favors from the hostess. I will share her peach coffee cake recipe sometime soon, so that you can taste how delicious it is. It was a rare and memorable time that we all spent together, and served as a reminder that old friendships continue add joy to our lives in many ways.

Friends are the flowers in the garden of life! It sounds like you had a wonderful time together...eating, enjoying each others company & being pampered.

I could relate to this post...as one of my best friends is a gal I met when we were newly married...and we had our children at the same time...and we are still good friends.

I had a similar experience with a friend, but, sad to say, I lost touch with her as her husband was in the Army too and they moved more than we did and one time she didn't reply and I fear her marriage may not have made it! So happy to hear yours worked out so well!

blessings,

marcy

It still amazes me how a knock on the door from you, and a kind invitation to my mother grew into a beautiful friendship and a cherished friend in your daughter to me. God is so good! Familiar & relaxed fellowship, laughter, GREAT food & babies, babies, babies...who could ask for a nicer afternoon?

It made me feel good just to read this post. It's so nice that you and your friend have continued your friendship and that your daughter planned such a nice afternoon for all of you to get together. So nice of your friend to do a little pampering too. I'm thinking that your daughter has acquired your thoughtful ways in sending everybody home with such a beautiful homemade gift. I will be staying tuned for the recipe as it looks and sounds delish.

Your such a sweet read, girl! I love your blog. Its excellent.

My hubby told me to give you this recipe..
BBQ Salmon..(BobVillas way)
Open fillet onto tin foil suitable for the bbq. Depending on how much fish you are going to cook, allow enough mayo to cover the meat medium heavy
..about 1/2 cup. Into the mayo add appx 2 teaspoons soy sauce, 2 cloves garlic.mix and spread on fish. Then salt and pepper. cook just until fish is done and no more..nothing worse than over done salmon.
This is a recipe that HE only makes, I never pay attention, nor ever have tried to copy..good luck, its excellent and seems quite easy!
let me know so I can pass on the reviews..

What makes this story of friendship even more inspiring is that as the years have gone by the ties that bind still held.
