Antique Treasures Found Here

This past weekend on the way home from my daughter's home, I just could not resist the temptation of stopping in. I cannot tell you the deals that I have discovered here in the last few years. I've learned that I only stop in if I am specifically looking for something. This time I was looking for a pretty, crystal, sturdy water pitcher. This is the one I found. I really liked the price tag, and when I went to the check out counter, I was told it was on a 25% off sale...liked it even more.

This is what I wanted the pitcher for. I filled it with lemons, my recipe for lemonade and a tag stating that " when life gives you lemons, make lemonade." I tied both the recipe and the tag on the handle with coordinating ribbon. This will be dropped off for a friend who is going through a very difficult time in her life. If you ever choose to use this idea, you too, can find pitchers at antique malls, flea markets, or I've also found real nice ones on the clearance shelf at T.J. Maxx.

Here is the small, beautiful, crystal pedestal bowl I found on sale. I wanted one for the many times I whip this dip together, for whatever occasion. Since I am into quick, easy and delicious...this one works for me. One 8 oz. pack of cream cheese and one small jar of pepper jelly. Whip the softened cream cheese with the pepper jelly, and put in glass dish. Surround with crackers of your choice. You might be asked for the recipe...I usually am.

I also found some more crystal salt and pepper shakers. I find great prices on these and I use them individually, for my garden roses. It makes a pretty presentation for roses, daisies or pansies,or any flower, and is a nice gift to use for someone in the hospital, or for any other thinking of you occasion. So you see, it was worth my while to stop at this big, old antique mall.

Judy,
I think you are one of the most unselfish people I have ever met (well, sorta met :-) I think you should consider writing a book of these thoughtful, unique and beautiful ideas you think up. The crystal pitcher is gorgeous and what a great idea to cheer up a friend's day. Did you make the little tag with a rubber stamp? Such a sweet delight to visit your lovely blog every day.

What alovely and thoughtful gift to give to someone ♥ I have to look for an antique gift shop. I love anything glass or crystal. I like how it picks up the light any time of the day or night. I never thought to use a salt or pepper shaker to hold flowers. What a great idea! It looks beautiful on your table. Thank you for all the kind comments you leave on my blog. I hope you have a wonderful day ♥

Wow, what a gorgeous pitcher. And what a wonderful idea to use the salt shaker as a small vase. I've used small sherry glasses, but this works even better.

Your beautiful photos are soul food!

Beautiful glass items. You do a lot of good works, obviously. Sometimes if you have something on hand you will take a little gift as opposed to have to go out and get something. Great idea. I love the recipe for the dip. Will try that this weekend for Father's day. Blessings

Ooooo! How pretty! There's just something so rich & wonderful about nostalgic pieces. My mother had lots of "pretties", many of which are now in my possession.

I love your eye!

Hi Judy, I love your gift to your friend...the pitcher is so pretty and I know she will appreciate it so much. It helps, more than any of us really know, when others express their friendship and especially when we are going through a tough period.

You are just amazing....your blog always lifts me to a higher plane. Bless you.

You come up with some of the best gift ideas!
My Mother-in-Law (now in Heaven)used to make pepper jelly with peppers from her garden.
She gave me lots of little jars over the years. I usually eat it with black-eyed peas but also put it with cream cheese and serve with crackers. Fortunately I still have a couple jars that haven't been opened. I'll be sad to use the last of it up.
