My Blogging Break

I took a blogging break the last four days spending some time with part of my extended family, relaxing in the mountains. Because of the busy-ness of life the last few weeks, this time away, was a relaxing and enjoyable time of being with family I love. I got to visit a few quaint gift shops along the way. This wreath captured my attention with it's vibrant Fall colors. Sunflowers always make me smile.

I had time to reflect on the tragedy of September 11th and the sobering statistics that were shared on the TV news. Faces and names of those who lost their lives flashed across the screen to remind us all, to never forget that day. Since that day in history, the United States flag means even more to me. The memory of this day also helped remind me to stop and appreciate those in our families who mean so much to us. This weekend was a good time to do just that.

The weather was beautiful was picture perfect, with warm sunny days and cool, clear evenings.

The breeze blowing through the sheer curtains of the place we stayed, evoked precious childhood memories for me. Days as a child when we lived without air-conditioning. During the summer, I remember being so thrilled with a breezy day. As I walked past this window throughout the weekend, the curtains blowing in the breeze took me back many years.

Walking along a trail in the woods, I caught the first signs of the leaves beginning to turn colors, helping me realize that Fall is almost here.
I truly did miss my enjoyable blog visits, and look forward to catching up as time allows.

This is a beautiful post, the wreath is lovely and the memory of 9/11 brings memories for me too, our daughter was living and working for Metro Ministries in Brooklyn at the time, they watched the second 'plane from the roof of their building and also lost a friend. They then worked with the rescue teams supporting and helping to feed them. I love your photo's, thank you.

Looks like you had a perfect spot to get away from it all. The photos are beautiful. I can't wait until we can keep our windows open here. It's supposed to be 87 today, so I think I'll wait awhile.
I love the wreath.

A lovely post. Pretty autumnal wreath. Related to your comment about summer breezes blowing sheer (lacy) curtains......... why is that simple act so pleasurable? It's a favourite.

Enjoy your time away!

Sounds like a great weekend and one that refreshed your soul. We all need to do that on occasion...good for you.

Sunflowers also make me smile...I saw so many fields of them in North Dakota on the trip with my mom and they definitely do brighten up your day whether it's one or a field of them!

Enjoy your week! COnnie

It sounds like you had a wonderful, realxing time away. I remember crisp white curtains blowing in the breeze from my childhood too, I still love that. I prefer open windows to air conditioning any time:>) Glad you're back!
