As the Peony bushes are pushing their way through the ground, here at our
home...

...our Midwest family spent the week visiting us.  They arrived on Saturday, and left
early this morning.  It has been years since our niece and nephew spent time with
their grandmother, and she loved every moment of that time together.

Time to read and to relax, were so needed for this family.  They live busy lives, and face
many demands, when they return from their spring break.

There was treasured time for lots of conversation, snacking on fresh, sweet,
delicious oranges from Costco, and potato chips.  Sounds like a great combination
doesn't it?   If what my brother claims is true, that potato chips really are vegetables,
then we snacked on fruit and vegetables:)

We had an extended family dinner with cousins who rarely spend time together.

Platters of hot, broasted chicken, makes every family event better.

The young ones were introduced for the first time, to the newest members of the family.
It was a tender moment for us, when we saw one of our nephews, taking a picture of
his precious, tiny second cousin.

"The richest gifts we can bestow are the least marketable."
~Henry David Thoreau

The family left early this morning, to drive the long distance home, and we
are left with lots of special memories.

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Good morning! So glad they were able to spend time together...it sounds wonderful. It bothers me so that my daughter and her family live so far away from the rest of us that the cousins won't get a lot of time together as they grow up. We make a real effort to have it happen a couple times a year for now, but I am afraid it will change as they grow older and it will become more difficult to get away. I LOVE the pic of the older cousin taking a pic of his newest little one. Soo sweet. Enjoy your week-end!

Great pictures and it is fun to just watch the kiddos enjoying each other. We congregate at our house pretty regularly and I have wonderful memories of the kiddos.
I have entertained myself this threatening stormy morning, by reading "backward" in your blog. I have loved each page, and could have commented on most of the writings! I am quite a little older than you, but our lives (and likes) are somewhat parallel. I have to smile when you say something I would have said, or show items that I also own!!
Thank you for your time and attention to detail...I'm really enjoying the things that you share!
Blessings,
J

Family visits are a blessing.
What I wouldn't give for your amazing porch . . .

Dear Love Being a Nonny, I do not have secrets for growing peony bushes, except I found that the ones more in the sun than the shade, do best for me. Also, I add plant food for them when I water them, every other week. But, let me tell you, there are bloggers that have the secrets, whenever they share their plants with us.
