Three pictures I captured yesterday.  Three scenes of exquisite beauty and splendor from the perimeters of my home.  I find this better than some of the finest art galleries I have had the privilege
of visiting.

But, what is really on my mind today, is the miracle of "fingerprints".

I heard that Apple might be coming out with a new iPhone sometime in the future, that
will be operated by the touch of one's finger, with the fingerprint of each individual, being
the operating tool.
For some reason, that has stuck in my mind after hearing it on the news yesterday.

I did a bit of research on "fingerprints", and here is some of what I discovered;

According to Google, there were 7.046 billion people in the world in 2012.

According to onin.com/ in the section "The History of Fingerprints, I learned that

"Fingerprints are an infallible means of person identification.

"No two fingerprints have ever been found alike in billions of human and automated
computer comparisons.
Other visible human characteristics tend to change, but fingerprints
are much more persistent."

"Around 1870, French Anthropologist Alphonse Bertillon devised a system to measure
and record the dimensions of certain bony parts of the body. Bertillon's system included
measurements as head length, length of the middle finger, length of the left foot, and length of the forearm from the elbow to the tip of the middle finger.  These measurements
were reduced to a formula which, theoretically, would apply to one person
and would not change during his/her adult life.

The Bertillon System was generally accepted for thirty years.  But it never
recovered from the events of 1903, when one man named Will West
was sentenced to the U.S. Penitentiary at Leavenworth, Kansas.
It was discovered that there already was a prisoner at the penitentiary
at the time, whose Bertillon measurements were nearly the
same,  and his name was William West.

Upon investigation, there were indeed two men who looked exactly
alike.  There names were Will and William West.  Their Bertillon were close
enough to identify them as the same person.
However, a fingerprint comparison quickly and correctly identified
them as two different people.(Per prison records discovered later,
the West men were apparently twin brothers and each had a
record of correspondence with the same immediate family
relatives."

This concept totally amazes me.  At the tips of my fingers are created markings that
individually identify me from the billions of people on this earth.
Markings so complex, and yet able to define me.
Wow!  This information, along with the beautiful nature scenes that I captured yesterday with my
"Sony" camera, leave me to believe with all my heart, that;

"There Is Somebody Bigger Than You and I".

"Who made the mountain, who made the tree
Who made the river flow out to the sea
Who hung the moon up in the starry sky
Somebody bigger than you and I.

Who made the flowers to bloom in the spring
Who writes the song for the robin to sing
Who sends the rain to the earth when it's dry
Somebody bigger than you and I.

He lights the way when the road is long
He keeps you company
His love is so strong
With His love there to guide you
He walks there beside you
Just like He walks with me.

When I get weary and filled with despair
Who gives me the strength to go on
You know it's because He does care
And who gives me the faith which humbles me to cry
There's Somebody bigger than you and I."

Words and music by Johnny Lange, Hy Heath, & Sonny Burke

I can hear Elvis Presley singing this song right now, in my mind.

It is such a miracle, isn't it? No fingerprints alike, and really, all these millions of people and yet each has a distinct and separate DNA... hand crafted by a loving God. Wow!!!

The God of all creation is amazing! Beautiful words to that song. I'm sure I must know the tune...but it hasn't come to me just yet.

Just a little something from Judy said...

Judy, hopefully the song does not come to you in the middle of the night:)

I remember my mom playing that song when I was a kid. The words are so comforting.
The information you provided on fingerprints is truly amazing.
Your photos are beautiful.

And you are talking about JUST finger prints (which is pretty awesome). There are so many other impressive and extraordinary things that God shows us.

Beautiful and wonderful thoughts! Truly amazing to see the beauty of a sunset, the moon hanging in the darkness and to know that we are all uniquely created. It is more difficult not to believe than it is to believe in a Creator who is bigger than you and me.
