In junior high school I met her. She rode in the van that I drove to school. She became my daughter's dear friend. She was sweet, quiet, dependable and oh, so much fun. My daughter and our family grew to love her the more time we spent with her. A few years after college graduation, she married my nephew. What a special occasion it was.

She is a blessing to all of us and we are thrilled to have her as part of our family. What an elegant and beautiful bride she is, pictured here with her dear mother. At every family event she always looks so put together, but better than that...her great sense of humor adds fun to each event.

Fast forward to the evening recently, when she helped to host our daughter's baby shower...after a very busy day she hurried to the baby shower only to discover that in her haste, she had worn two different shoes. Laughter erupted and continued on as those that love her discovered her mistake. But, true to her wonderful self, she wore the shoes with grace and style, providing laughter and fun to the beautiful evening festivities. She even posed for this picture knowing it possibly would end up on my blog.
Today, you came to my mind as I was driving past your childhood home and I laughed all over again.

I passed this tiny roadside stand with home grown bouquets of flowers. I just had to stop and buy you the purple bouquet. Flowers because of all the fun and laughter you have added to all of our lives...

... and purple because I remember it was always your favorite color. If you found this bouquet at your front door, when you came home from work tonight, you now know who it is from, and the reason why it was there.
The fact that this fashion blunder was not allowed to ruin your evening and that it provided lots of laughs for all of us, is truly worth remembering.

Hi Judy!

What a wonderful way to thank such a sweet niece-in-law! The bouquet you chose is beautiful!

I've never worn two different shoes but I have worn mismatched socks :)

Love that story, Judy! And how fun that you could all laugh 'with' her.

She may just wear mismatched shoes again...just for another lovely bouquet!

What a cute story. You are so sweet to think of her with those beautiful flowers. She must have been happy to find them on her doorstep after work.
Your roadside stand selling those lovely bouquets is charming.

I think this is my first time to visit your blog. I spent a little time here and especially enjoyed the bouquets that brightened the more recent posts!

This one was such a thoughtful one to pass on to your sweet niece.

She is definitely my kind of girl! I wore a black and a navy shoe to church once...

Please add a virtual flower to her bouquet for me! :)

Aunt Judy,
I am so thrilled to be on your blog! What an honor!! I would wear mis-matched shoes again just for the privilege:) And the flowers...Wow after a long day at school I came home to find the beautiful bouquet, Ragen and I were so puzzled, we tried to figure out who left the flowers all night! It is so special that you remember my favorite color is purple...I'm actually decorating my classroom in mostly purple - I hope the boys don't mind, maybe I can convince them that it is cool! Thank you again, this made my day!!

Oh, my goodness! That's too funny! Your dear niece-in-law never told me that shoe mishap story! TOO funny!

The flower stand is my FAVORITE stand to shop at! She's a great lady. If you don't have enough $ or you've put down too much, just keep mental track of what you owe or what she owes for the next purchase! Only in our neck of the country!

Love your blog!

This is such a precious message! Thanks for sharing dear friends and beautiful flowers!

She's a trooper to wear both the shoes and laugh about it because that's what I would have done. I did that once with ear rings. Wow was that hysterical because I didn't even realize it until people sent me photos from the event I was ministering at. Both were long dangling ear rings and it was very noticeable because one was rhinestones and the other was gold with a heart drop in it. Not one person said a thing until a friend told me later that she thought I had started a new fad! We laughed.

Hugs and thanks for sharing the beautiful flowers with us!

your blog always inspires me and chokes me up as well! (as a mom of 3 girls, who is currently always in the van with tons of her daughters and friends!) She is a lovely girl, and the picture of the two shoes makes her so human!! You may be the best hostess in the world, but nobody has it all together all the time! To cute! congrats on the shower and all the wonderful family celebrations you all have going on!
