Hummingbirds...use an inexpensive single-port feeder if you want to attract them to your property.

These little creatures have always fascinated me although I am not skilled enough in photography to capture them. My uncle is, and this morning he sent me these incredible pictures. For those of you who are familiar with these birds, you will have an even greater appreciation for the expertise in his photography.

I want to share this quote from Bud Hensley in my new "Easy Living" magazine;
"There is no other creature on this planet like hummingbirds, with their tremendous speed, precise aerial manuevering, fierce determination and incredible iridescent glimmer, all on that diminutive feathered frame. They are truly a wonder of nature."
I thought you might enjoy seeing these beautifully captured pictures of one of nature's tiny wonders. Thank you dear uncle.

These sweet little birds never fail to delight me. Your uncle captured some lovely photos. They are such fast movers. It seems like any time I try to take a picture of them, they have flown the coop before I get a chance.

We just hung up three feeders right outside our breakfast room window. We are really enjoying the hummingbirds. We used to have the trumpet vine on our pergola and we had hummingbird wars all the time - they loved it. Unfortunately that vine had to go and we have a lot less of the little birds.

We love and are amazed by hummingbirds. Beautiful pictures! Loved the post about your girls and the trip through time with the photos. The are lovely... and you are, too. Do you remember the post you did that featured the punch cup votive holder? Well, I thought it was a great idea and stored it in my "keep for future use" bank! I am going to use them as part of the decorations on the food serving tables at our wedding reception in Sept. I am using my grandmother's cups. I started decorating them last night. I have about 15. I'm using royal blue(wedding color choice) and white ribbon and the tiniest calla lilies(wedding flower choice). They look lovely. So, thanks SO MUCH for the idea!! Someone told me if you put a little water in the cup, it will keep the wax from sticking to the glass. Have you found that to be true? I may use floating candles if I can find some small enough. I haven't decided about that yet. Anyway, I will think of you every time I look at them!! Bless you!

Debbie,
Thank you for your kind comment today. I am excited about the punch cup votive holders you are making for the wedding. It sounds so beautiful to me, the way you described what you are creating. I must tell you that I think it would benefit you to visit another blog where the lady created a similar craft, and I like hers so much. The blog is ...bellamerecottage.blogspot.com/. She too has instructions for hers and I think you will like it. As for water on the bottom of the cups, I always do that. It works perfectly and makes removal so simple.

Thanks again. I look forward to seeing future pictures.

Great photos, I love watching birds on feeders, I have some photos of home made feeders in a cafe here in South Africa, I will post them at some point so you can see them.

Hummingbirds are amazing...and not so easy to capture with a camera. I planted flowers that are meant to lure them...and had a feeder up...but they have been rather elusive this year. Thanks for sharing.
