This Monday morning despite what I saw out of my kitchen window...the Robins clustered under the tree eating their breakfast, the Robins that my mother always had us looking for each February and March. She would convince us that this was a sure sign that Spring was right around the corner.

But this is what we drove through on our way home from the little country church that we attend. The winds were blowing drifts across the roads making them almost impassable at some places.

The skys were overcast, the tempetures were low, and the winds were strong...winter driving was truly what we experienced.

The drifts were higher than me at many places.

The icicles continue to reside along the edge of our screened-in porch. The forecast this Monday morning is ...snow this afternoon and evening. Yes...2 -4 more inches of fresh snow and the possibility of more snow coming later in the week.
I am the one who expressed that I am a true fan of the Winter season. Well...I should certainly be a happy camper now. I am enjoying all of this weather although the Robins did bring me a tinge of excitement that Spring will soon be here.

This picture I took last evening as we gave our daughter and her husband time away to celebrate Valentine's Day together,in peace and quiet. My husband, me and our youngest daughter tackled the big, but so much fun chore, of five little ones. We found ourselves wondering how she does this by herself, quite often.
I close this Winter post with this quote I read recently;
"Normal day, let me be aware of the treasure you are. Let me learn from you, love you, bless you before you depart. Let me not pass you by in the quest of some rare and perfect tomorrow." ~author unknown
Despite the Winter forecast ahead, and the snowdrifts and icicles already here...today is truly a treasure to me.

Judy, I haven't seen any robins yet here in central Illinois. You must have really good plows there in your county! Precious little ones..

It's a good thing you are a true fan of winter...because it looks to me like you may have snow around for awhile!

Your little guys are just the sweetest. Who wouldn't want to spend Valentine's Day with them?

I so often take for granted the GIFT of a normal day. Thank you for the reminder.

P.S. Precious baby boys!

Treasure indeed! What adorable babies.

It's hard to imagine the ferocity of Winter 2010. Living in the desert (shouldn't that read "dessert"?) as we do, we rarely experience extremes beyond the 3 mos of heat we're known for. I'd love to nestle near a fire and relish the lovely icicles of your screened porch.

Have some cocoa for me. I've switched now to ice tea.

Hugs,
Kathleen

It's hard to believe that you might get even more snow. The pile you showed along the side of the road are amazingly deep. It made me cold just looking at them. I'm glad you made it safely to church.

Your littlest baseball players are so precious. How sweet of you, your husband and daughter to give the parents a well deserved break to celebrate Valentine's Day.

Stay warm and safe.

I cannot believe all the snow you have!! Wow. But it sure is pretty.

Your little guys are so sweet...and what a blessing you are to tackle all 5 of them. I'm certain your daughter/son-in-law so appreciated a night together.

Blessings.

Judy, all the photos are absolutely beautiful but the last one of those precious grand babies just brought a huge smile to my face.

Wow that snow was high!!

Glad your family lives close enough to love on the kids while giving the parents some time alone. Love you dear one.

One of the most wonderful things about you...you seem to know how to make every day a special treasure.

Seeing those snowdrifts make me glad I live here. = ) We're in the midst of a heavy winter storm here, but still nothing like what you've had this year. The snow right now is up to my knees, with some drifts that are deeper (and it's still snowing!) This is a lot for us. They're calling for still more later this week. I can say I am definitely looking forward to spring now!

What a sweet Valentine gift to your daughter & her hubby. Love those photos of the boys. <3

The twins are so adorable! Are they identical? They look exactly alike! I'm sure it was fun to babysit.

Your area had more snow than we did ...ours has melted quite a bit over the past two days, but it is snow again this evening.

I know that quote and also treasure it, as it is so true!

Awww.... Judy your little grands are just adorable ♥ I can't believe all of the snow you have gotten. We have hardly had any here this year. We have about an inch covering the grass but the streets are clear. My mother always said a Robin was a sure sign of spring too ♥
