I am reminded again of the joy one little one receives when given the privilege of helping mommy with the dishes. The old kitchen chair comes up to the sink, and the tea towel is happily clenched in hand, and the dishes are there to dry. What fun!
I watched this little one helping her mother and I watched her helping me when she is in my home, that is how I know whereof I speak. Another reason I know the great joy this simple task brings to little ones is because...

...only 53 years ago I was standing on an old kitchen chair, in another kitchen, clutching a tea towel, and helping my mother dry the dishes. My how time flies.

I was only going to share the first two photos, but then I saw this one with her bangs down and another sweet, little smile on her face, and I just had to share.

I close with this comment from Harriet Beecher Stowe expressing a feeling from my heart, as I reflect on these pictures;

"I long to put the experience of fifty years at once into your young lives, to give you at once the key of that treasure chamber every gem of which has cost me tears and struggles and prayers, but you must work for these inward treasures yourself."

God bless you little one!

What a great post...love those sweet pictures. And I have to agree with the words of Harriet Beecher Stowe...if only there was a way to give our grands the wisdom of the ages!

Absolutely beautiful!! I hope you have these photos side by side some where for this precious little one to look back on and show to her children and grand children. WOW!!

Thanks for sharing with us dear friend. You richly bless my heart.

How wonderful! Here you are, all two feet of you, already making your way around a kitchen. It brings a huge grin to my face.

I did the same thing. Being the youngest of four, I was also wanting to "help" (that is, until I figured out it was WORK!).

What precious memories. And how equally precious that little ones are following in your footsteps.

How precious those pictures are, and I think I recognize the "mix master" on the counter from your childhood!

That poem is wonderful... and so true. We can't do it FOR them, but it's for sure we can pray.

Those pictures should be side by side, like Lisa said. I always love to see the pictures of the loved ones behind all of our words.

Blessings, to both 'girls'!

I love these sweet photos and the wonderful Beecher quote, Judy. I'm writing that quote down now as it really spoke to me. How wonderful it would be to pass on all our wisdom to our grandchildren? But we do accomplish that feat, in a way, by our actions and through the nurturing time we spend with them.

So adorable! Who says you can't find things for your kids to do on homebound snowy days? Did she move onto dusting next?
Both little girl pics are so sweet!

Judy...my mom did that with my kids and her mom probably let her do it...and now I have my grandchildren help by standing on a chair and washing dishes too and helping with the baking. She is a cutie....and I love the extra photo and the one of you! Great traditions to hand down to this next generation.

My how the twins are growing....and soooo cute! I just wanted to pick them up and kiss them! Your daughter is blessed to have you and you are blessed by all the many smiles for gramma!!

Have a good week! Connie
