It was New Year's Eve. It was in the home of wonderful family friends who just happened to be involved in dairy farm operations. Who else would have salt and pepper shakers like these on their table? Who else would have boxes of different flavors of delicious ice creams to choose from? Who but this family would have cow cookie jars on their kitchen counter and a wooden cow platter with feet on their buffet table?

It was a party that originated with three couples and their young children at least 35 years ago. It is now those same three with their children, and their grandchildren, and in some cases, their great-grandchildren. What a special evening to reconnect with these people. As you can see just by the fruit platter the food was beautifully displayed and tastefully served.

My grandson was waiting on my husband's lap, to see the Christmas Nativity play that was about to start.

Written, directed, and acted out by the host's grandchildren. They had performed it on Christmas Day and their grandfather asked them to repeat the performance for all of us. What creativity and detail went into this short but meaningful skit.

My sister captured these few fun pictures throughout the evening. Our daughter and her tired little one celebrating the eve of the New Year.

How quickly these children grew up. Two pretty sisters added joy and laughter to the evening's festivities.

Proud father and grandfather relish the time spent with the twin's first celebration of a New Year.

While the twin's older brother adds his own special flair to the party atmosphere.
It was a lovingly created and hosted evening by our dear family friends. A fun way to start out the year 2010.

What better way to see in the new year than with a collection of one's own beloveds?

Handsome guys; beautiful girls; precious babes. Good God. How blessed!

How wonderful to have such a long standing tradition to ring in the new year. Your hosts served a beautiful fruit platter.
I can just imagine how sweet the children's performance was. The photo of the twins with grandpa and dad is really special.
Happy New Year to you and your family, Judy.

Wonderful photos and story. Thanks for sharing your celebration. I love when the youth do the Nativity scene. Ours did for years, but they consider themselves too old now and they seems to be no more new babies coming on until the grands start to get married. One coming up this spring maybe a great grand before too long. Happy New Year to you and yours.
