Lining the side of our driveway are beautiful white" Spiraea" shrubs (or bushes). This is the time of the year they are in full bloom. We had them planted because they reminded my of my home as a young girl. I love their delicate white flowers. They add a perfect touch to every flower arrangement I make.
Here is an idea for a centerpiece that I created last year. Yes, I had another trip to the Dollar Tree. Actually, one of many for me. This time I purchased the simple clear glass bowl in the dish section. I also purchased the cut glass goblet. I washed and dried them thoroughly, then took my "Goop"glue and glued the bottom of the goblet to the flat bottom of the bowl. You can use any glass bowl and glass goblet for this creation. I liked mine though because it was only $ 2.oo...1.00 for each piece. After adhereing the glue, it must set for 24 hours. After that, you have a completed piece for the next step...adding a votive and any flowers of your choice. In the photo at the top of this post, I filled the bowl with water, cut the stems of Spiraea about 4 inches long, and stuck them the whole way around the bowl(you can fill it as full as you like). I then added a clear glass votive candle, and I had myself a finished centerpiece. I actually had this on the breakfast table early this morning when my husband and I sat down to breakfast. Yes...we did have a candlelight breakfast together.

In this photo, I experimented by adding colorful pansies along with the Spiraea, to brighten it up a bit. I do like both ways. For $2.00 I had a perfect centerpiece to use for any occasion, even if it is just for your family dinner hour. Next week my Peonies will be in full bloom. I will use their soft pink blooms to create another centerpiece for my table. Since candlelight and fresh flowers are among my favorite things, you can see how I would have fun working with this simple little Dollar Tree creation. This could be used as a gift for a friend.

That turned out so pretty. What a great idea! I have spireas but they bloom in very pale purple. Love them!
This is a beautiful idea - I love how you put this together! You are so creative!
This is beautiful and so simple, which adds to our appreciation. When I was a little girl we used Spirea as tiaras for our May procession, about10 inches make a perfect arch across our hair. I am so happy I found your blog.
Hi Judy, this is so lovely!!!! I am going to have to get myself to the Dollar Tree. Ha.
Lovely!!!

Judy, that is a beautiful centerpiece and so affordable too. You have such a talent for creativity. I have several spirea shrubs and have never even thought to cut them. Thanks so much for this great idea. I love it.
So pretty...and I love the white spirea. I planted one of the 'white flowering' spirea...and mine is just beginning to bloom. Great idea!
What a lovely idea! I especially love the idea of a candlelight breakfast...wow! = )
We just bought a house with spiraea in the garden. Now I know what to do with those pretty white blooms!
Just stopped by from Sharing Life with Lisa. Congrats on the award! Your blog is absolutely beautiful! I love the pics of the flowers. and thanks for sharing your Dollar Tree source.
I will definitely be back.
I love spierea. . but mine is not white like yours. .and not yet completely blooming. My peonies are full of buds. . and so. .I wait.
Your arrangement is such an awesome idea. The cost effetiveness (sp?). .would make it perfect for reception arrangements.
OH. . but I loved the story you left in my comments. .thank . .you . .I do feel better.
A few years ago, my brother wore his slippers to a business meeting..
Judy this is beautiful. I picture your home being so filled with love and warmth. I'm sure the LORD is very content to have his heart dwelling there.
Love you.
What a great idea! Both of the center pieces are just lovely. I think I'm going to try this. I really like the idea of having a candle light breakfast. It is some thing I would definitely do. In the winter, as the sun is barely coming up, my hubby and I have coffee in the living room. I always light little tea lights. Candle light is so pretty. Thank you for the lovely comments on my post. I think of you as a dear friend ♥
Beautiful!
And thank you for commenting on my blog recently. Your words of encouragement are a real gift to me.
I believe I have not heard of or seen these Spiraea flowers before, they are refreshingly beautiful. I love your creativeness with the arrangement, I must try it sometime:)
