My" Spiraea" Shrubs Are Blooming

Lining the side of our driveway are beautiful white" Spiraea" shrubs (or bushes). This is the time of the year they are in full bloom. We had them planted because they reminded my of my home as a young girl. I love their delicate white flowers. They add a perfect touch to every flower arrangement I make.

Here is an idea for a centerpiece that I created last year. Yes, I had another trip to the Dollar Tree. Actually, one of many for me. This time I purchased the simple clear glass bowl in the dish section. I also purchased the cut glass goblet. I washed and dried them thoroughly, then took my "Goop"glue and glued the bottom of the goblet to the flat bottom of the bowl. You can use any glass bowl and glass goblet for this creation. I liked mine though because it was only $ 2.oo...1.00 for each piece. After adhereing the glue, it must set for 24 hours. After that, you have a completed piece for the next step...adding a votive and any flowers of your choice. In the photo at the top of this post, I filled the bowl with water, cut the stems of Spiraea about 4 inches long, and stuck them the whole way around the bowl(you can fill it as full as you like). I then added a clear glass votive candle, and I had myself a finished centerpiece. I actually had this on the breakfast table early this morning when my husband and I sat down to breakfast. Yes...we did have a candlelight breakfast together.

In this photo, I experimented by adding colorful pansies along with the Spiraea, to brighten it up a bit. I do like both ways. For $2.00 I had a perfect centerpiece to use for any occasion, even if it is just for your family dinner hour. Next week my Peonies will be in full bloom. I will use their soft pink blooms to create another centerpiece for my table. Since candlelight and fresh flowers are among my favorite things, you can see how I would have fun working with this simple little Dollar Tree creation. This could be used as a gift for a friend.
