They are showing up everywhere in our county right now.  They are big, plump, red and
so sweet!  We eat them in so many ways, and we are happy whenever we eat them.

On Saturday afternoon, I discovered my mother in her kitchen, once again making her
beloved freezer strawberry jelly.

Carefully, she cut up each red berry...

...filling the big, white bowl.

She makes it the same way, always!  Her boxes of Certo are close by.  She chooses to
make the "freezer version" recipe, with the instructions inside the box.

She has been making this jelly for at least 60 some years, and in her eighties, she is
still making it.  This is one process in the kitchen, that continues to make her happy,
knowing she can put the filled jars in her freezer, for the upcoming winter.  You see,
every morning she has a cinnamon/raisin English muffin, toasted with peanut butter and
her jelly on it.  Plus, the hot cups of coffee.  She claims that one cannot buy jelly that
tastes as good as this recipe:)

Watching her, inspired me to do the same.

Hence, the jars of jelly now in my freezer.  Only difference...I did not look as pretty as she did,
while making my jelly:)

Thanks for stopping by today.  You are a blessing to me!  I wish I could share a jar of
jelly with you all.

How beautiful is your mother in her pretty kitchen!!! Strawberries are just coming into their best here in the UK. The ones we have on offer throughout the winter just don't taste as they should. I have just discovered a great way of cutting up strawberries using an egg slicer. I'm sure you may have seen this before but I hadn't and just bought my self two slicers whilst at IKEA at the weekend, one for home and one for our cottage. I have never had one but my mother did while I was a child :)

How delightful! Save a jar for me.

I love strawberries and have been putting them in desserts for about two months, now. Yum!

What a great post...documenting your lovely mother in her kitchen making strawberry jam! Our local strawberries have been sweet and juicy and delicious this year...with the season about over now. Everything is several weeks earlier than usual here...due to a very warm winter and spring.

What a sweet tradition and a delicious recipe! I have made it and agree nothing tastes as good. Such a lovely lady with an equally lovely daughter!

This post just made me smile today, Judy. I just love how your mom has kept this tradition going for all these years. I tend to agree with her that it would not be possible to buy an equivalent product as hers is so obviously made with the most important ingredient... love.
Your mom is a beautiful lady... just like you and your daughters. The beauty gene is strong in your family.

Oh, my, what beautiful jelly! And, you Mom, a spry 80 something year old and still enjoying life. How wonderful! Happy new week!

I have the dishwasher full of jars right now so they will be ready to do jam tomorrow.
I was thinking it would be so easy now if I'd only be making it for myself... but this post lets me know that I may not be done too soon yet ... There are so many memories attached to the enjoyment of Grammy's jam. I love how she still smiles after sixty some years of doing this. I wish we could exchange a jar. =)

Your Mom is a lovely lady!!!! and her jam looks equally delish!
I had to smile at the breakfast menu...mine is the same...English muffin toasted, spread with peanut butter and berry jam! I just wish mine made me look that good....I bet it's her homemade jam that makes the difference :^)
Blessings to both of you,
J
