A week or so ago, I was looking at "Anthropologie's" website.  It is a place I like to browse and on my last visit, I saw some adorable little snow globes.  I thought to myself, "they look like something I could make."  I had plenty of empty jars in the cupboard.  I bought some miniature evergreen trees in different sizes at Michaels.  To make it better, they were half price.  I also had some bottles of white glitter.

Fast forward for a few days, and here you will see our finished collections.  Some of our older grandchildren needed gifts for some special people in their lives.  They were so excited for this project and eagerly participated in creating their gifts.

As you can see, perhaps we went a bit overboard on the glitter aspect, producing more of a blizzard effect than a gently falling snow:)   Actually, mica flake glitter is what we used, so that the snow would be obvious to them, but I would recommend a finer glitter.

They chose the trees they wanted to use, and I used the glue gun to glue each tree onto the inside of the lid.  They took turns adding the water and the glitter to each glass jar.
It was fun to see them lining my kitchen shelf, waiting to be put in boxes and given to some special people.  As for the secretive part of this adventure...well, time will tell.  Some of them are still in the learning process of" keeping a secret", but for that matter, some adults are still learning that skill:)

If you happen to be one that might be receiving one of these snowglobes for Christmas, PLEASE, whatever you do, do not tell them that you saw them on Mawmaw's blog, before the holidays.
The most fun of this project, was watching their expressions as they learned to create their own gifts.
I want them to learn the importance of giving in life, and this is a small start.  Hopefully, Antropologie stores will be flattered by our quite simple imitation.

What a wonderful project for little ones to do with a parent or grandparent. I'm sure the recipients of these gifts will be thrilled with their beautiful snow globes!

Oh my, this is the best of tutoring. You're developing more creative creatures for a family that abounds with them!

I love the little globes. And what a fabulous craft idea. I doubt any of my grandchildren would sit long enough to attempt it (most are teens, and baby Kole is just that ... a baby).

What an accumulation of memories you're giving your wee ones. Pricelss!

Okay, I am totally impressed. That was quite the project to take on. Great idea though, and won't they always remember this day and who helped them create something for others. Fabulous!
