I sat in the corner of the hospital room on the tan

vinyl chair. I sat and I observed for the days that my husband was a patient in the hospital, last

week. One of the most

important aspects of my observations, was my renewed appreciation of the nursing profession.

The comfort they give,

The care they show,

The patience that they exhibit,

and the skillful way they perform the work that needs to be done, just amazed me.

I was made aware of a special week that is set aside to honor these wonderful people.

National Nurse's Day is May 12th, which is the last day of National Nurse's Week, May 6th - May 12th.

During the designated week of honoring those in the Nursing profession, why not send a note

of thanks to one of the outstanding nurses in your world. Certainly it would bless their day in a

special way. I know this to be true from first hand information I received.

This is my very favorite nurse. Love this nurse...my beautiful daughter.

Another favorite nurse in my world...my beautiful SIL.

Angels of Mercy in the medical world...thanks to everyone of you!

Another "MOAN" here (that stands for Mother Of A Nurse), and I echo all that you have said!

Thank you for telling me about this. I have a special nurse in my life I would like to remember and I didn't know it was in May! Thanks so much!

What a nice thing to remind us of. My mother was a nurse, and we always had the best care from her. A good nurse makes such a difference.

Thanks Judy, this is a good thought!

Sonja

Oh how I agree with you! They do not earn nearly what they deserve either. Bravo for Nurses!

I completely agree with your thoughts on nurses. It sometimes seems like they are working harder than the doctors. They deserve to have a week devoted to them. Thanks for this reminder.

Happy Nurse's Day to all those who care for the sick and elderly and a special THANK YOU to those who work in the Hospice field. They are the real angels of mercy.

Thank you for the recognition (I'm a nurse!)

Although I love my profession, it is hard hard work and often the work goes unrecognized, especially by the doctors!

Thanks again!

(Thanks for the comment...but don't feel TOO sorry for me. I DO drink black coffee every morning...It's just that I love Diet Coke and sweet tea and I know both of them are bad for me.) :)

You are so right Judy. One of my best friends is a nurse and we have several family members who are. That's a job I could never do but so appreciate.

I am MIL to a nurse...and sister to a nurse...and niece of a few nurses...and a friend to others! It takes a special person to be a nurse...and they deserve to be recognized and honoured. I join in your chorus of 'thank-you'!

Nurses, like teachers, rarely get the applause they so richly deserve. Thank you for summoning our admiration.

Blessings,
Kathleen

P.S. I hope your hubby's doing well.

What a lovely post to honor nurses and there are so many wonderful ones out there, making life so much gentler for us. I was blessed with an aunt (Helen) who was a nurse and it's an honor to have one in the family so you are doubly honored!

blessings and hugs,

How wonderful to hear that from someone who recognized the nurses as they move about their duties. I miss working, an RN, and of course at work Nurses week was a big deal. We were always treated to a special luncheon and in fact each discipline has a special week. PTs and SWs and just about every one. Thanks for the tribute.

Judy you are such a special lady ♥ All nurses really want is a smile in the way of a thank you. A smile means the world to them. Trust me I know :>)Happy nurses week to your daughter and SIL:>)

Aw, thanks Mom!!! You are so sweet. And thanks also from all the nurses out there! So often (as in all areas of life) we only hear the negatives- how sweet to have people like you encourage us!

Thank you! Much love!

Thank you so much Judy. As a retired RN I am sure the nurses that get a token of recognition would be very touched and grateful!

Hope your husband is feeling well!

Mom,
You may not be a registered nurse of any sort, but you have tended to your 3 constant female 'patients' for many years with lots of love...(and Ginger Ale and Toast and a swift boot in the bum to 'walk around and you'll feel fine'). It's one of the many aspects i love about you (and have inherited from you).

I'm a mil of a nurse and echo again all your have said. I see how caring they are and how "my" nurse wonders how her patients are doing after they've gone home.
I am so sorry I missed about your husband being in the hospital ..I've read back in your posts and caught up. . I pray he'll be feeling completely well soon!

I hope your husband is all better Judy! And you're right about remembering our nurses - they are truly angels in white! When my hubby was in the hospital last year, I sent all the nurses a thank you card and dropped off a box of cookies - they were wonderful.
Hugs to you!
Shelley
