Can Someone Explain This to Me?

This precious little girl just recently turned "2". One of the things I love about her is her beautiful smile, and the laughter that seems to be a part of her everyday. So...why is this saga happening? Every time the camera comes close to her...the sober face appears, and no matter how much craziness goes on by the photo taker or those on hand who pride themselves on the ability to make someone smile...the soberness remains. Here she is with her dear mother...

...and with my neice who always has a ready smile...

...and me, her mawmaw. Right before this picture was taken we had been laughing and playing together. The camera appears and so does the soberness. I discovered this lately as I was looking back over my pictures of the last few weeks, and I thought maybe someone out there in blogland could help me to decipher this behavior. Seriously, I know it is just a phase. With three daughters I lived through many different phases of behavior, and learned to not take each of them to heart, because they will grow out of them, and then some other behavior will leave one somewhat puzzled. So, this little one will continue to be photographed and I know soon her camera smile will return.

"Humor is to life what shock absorbers are to automobiles." Despite what you may be facing today, I wish for you a moment or two of humor to get you through.

I have a Grandson who does the same thing...not always but often. I think it is just a phase and we have to try and 'catch' them when they aren't looking.
Never-the-less she is very beautiful and those good looks certainly run in the family!

Who knows why they do those things! I'm sure she is perfectly happy. Maybe it's confusing or it could be a control thing. When my son was 2 or 3 he would put his hand in front of his eye like he was taking the picture with the camera. He'd make a little clicking sound too. :) We just look back at those one eyed pictures as a passing phase. :) She's precious even with the sober look.

ok, that makes me laugh!

probably it's the only thing she has control over right now in her life. you know we women have to control SOMETHING!!

Hummm? My daughter & granddaughter from their young ages to now have always been posers lols they loved getting their pictures made. But I have a little great niece who doesn't like having her picture made she will lower her head as if to say no please don't. She is 5 now and we are hoping she will grow out of it, in fact I think her mom actually does have pics. of her smiling. Your probably right it is maybe a phase they will have plenty of those throughout their lives.

Have a blessed weekend....~Linda~

lol, she reminds me of my daughter , she is 14, but I still have to beg her to smile in pictures :)

I've learned to capture her when she doesn't know I have the camera, that helps a little :) and the candid shots are precious :)

What an adorable little sweetie, as long as she smiles most of time when not being photographed, you're half way there :)

Hugs, Cynthia xo

Must be a phase our little miss P.T. does the same thing. As soon as the camera shows up she gets shy I think.

Hi Judy

My daughter did that a lot when she was two! (she is now 27)

She was very verbal for her age and I remember her telling me that the camera made her teeth hurt. I realized a little while later that she was getting her molars and perhaps staging a smile made her gums hurt. She soon grew out of it.

I think it is best not to make an issue out of it and sooner or later your adorable little grand daughter will be smiling for the camera again!

First I have to say that she is just BEAUTIFUL!!

I have not had first hand experience with this particular thing but I recall an old friend of mine. Whenever the camcorder came near him he would start screaming even if two seconds prior he had been laughing. It was back when video cameras had just become really popular in the 90's. If I remember correctly she found out that the problem was that the video camera scared him especially if the person was bringing it close to him.

Now your Grandbaby doesn't look afraid at all so I'm not sure what it could be. She is a cutie!!

Love ya.

I'm not sure why she is doing that. Hopefully her smiles for the camera will soon return.

She's cute with a pouty lip too.

oh my...those little looks are just priceless.

I wonder if maybe the flash scares her or something like that?

Whatever it is, that pouty lip is too cute for words.
