Savoring The Moments

"A person should hear a little music, read a little poetry, and see a fine picture every day of their life, in order that worldly care may not obliterate the sense of the beautiful which God has implanted in the human soul." --Johann Wolfgang won Goethe

Last evening I discovered the most exquisitely gorgeous sunset, behind my home. In the quiet, cold, snow covered evening, I stood with my camera, attempting to capture a portion of the beauty in front of me. I cannot explain to you, the peacefulness and quietness that enveloped me, as I watched the sun slowly disappearing behind the trees. In this day that we live, with developing news stories that can instill fear and uneasiness within us...I was overwhelmed with the gift of peace, calmness and beauty that was before me. I did not want the moment to end.

So quickly the sun, that had brightened and warmed my day yesterday, disappeared, and darkess was ushered in. The verse from Psalms 19:1 described perfectly this moment in time..."The heavens declare the glory of God: the skies proclaim the work of his hands." What human being could ever create such a majectic sight as I witnessed last evening?
May the memory of those moments of beauty, and the One who created it, bring peace and reassurance to my gift of " today."

Good Morning Judy. :) I took pictures of the sunset last night too. Wasn't it beautiful? I spotted it right before the Bunco girls came so it definitely helped calm me. I love the verse that you found to go with your post.

It was so sweet of you to think of me last night. We had a great time! I highly recommend an activity like Bunco. A girl needs something that's just for fun.

I think I forgot to tell you that we loved the chicken recipe from last week! Even picky 16 year old thought it was great. Please share more of those 4 ingredient recipes.

Judy,

Thank you dearest sister in Christ for sharing a beautiful message of HOPE and BEAUTY with us. In times as these we need everything that points us toward JESUS!

Thank you also for the LOVE you pour out upon me. I don't take it lightly. I appreciate you and love you.

Van Goethe said it well! If we take the time to enjoy the beauty of the sunrise or the sunset...the blossoms...the birds...the snow-capped peaks...our troubles of the day will be put in perspective.

And you captured the sunset beautifully!

Incredible sunset and what a moment to savor and share! I too happened to notice that incredible sunset last night, although didn't capture any photos because we were riding in the car.

Blessings,
Tracy
