The drive to the home provided a calming serenity, as we drove through the tree lined road,
to the old log A-frame house, that was now a stone farmhouse, thanks to the masonry
skills of the Amish father.

Upon arriving at our destination, the hospitality was warm and welcoming.  One
immediately felt like one wanted to stay.

Walking into the old log and stone kitchen, we were greeted by a beautifully set table, on a
white linen tablecloth.  We, a group of women who have met over this past year, to study the
Bible together, had the unique, and special privilege of having a luncheon at this home.

The lovely set table, and the wonderful ladies around it, was the best combination.
Our young hostess had everything prepared and her fun personality added even more
to the blessing of our time together.  Homemade, fresh food, and time for conversation...
what could be better!

One of the ladies created this glass bowl of flowers as a hostess gift.
A pretty, simple idea for your summer flowers, and would add a touch of beauty, no matter
where it was placed.

The fresh, colorful, delicious salads could have been a meal in themselves, not to mention
the two flavorful homemade salad dressings that were served with it.

Our hostess's mother quietly, and efficiently helped her daughter in the kitchen, with the serving,
the dishes, and with making sure her grandson were fed.  The little guys were adorable and so
well behaved.

An old bowl set on the side counter, cleverly filled with a candle and green apples.

On the side wall of the living room wall, was this gorgeous old stained glass window.  I could
not stop looking at it, as the sun streamed through it's brilliant colors.

The window beside it, provided this view, of the hanging basket and manicured grounds.

The wooden deck out back, offered a view of the many gardens planted by the owners.

Our hostess was most gracious and engaging, as she answered the many questions about
her home and grounds

I noticed the old German Bible, along with other interesting books, on the living
room bookshelf.  Bookshelves often provide insight into those living within
a home's walls, and in this case it certainly does.

Creative touches were everywhere in this home.  Here she placed a short pathway to
her watering cans, by breaking up some clay pots.

A beloved family dog oversaw everything that was happening, and was
especially endearing  and protective of the little ones.

To me, it seemed like the best environment for the two little guys that lived here.  No
televisions, no phones, and no computers...just the great outdoors, and the summer
months ahead.

It is always a privilege to step into another's world for a few hours, experiencing life as
others live it, and getting to see life from their point of view.  In the end, warm, gracious
hospitality matters most, and leaves those who visited, feeling most thankful for the
rare opportunity allotted them.  Truly, it was a memorable time for each one of us, and
I thought maybe you would like if I shared the time with you all.

Thanks so much for stopping by today!

I couldn't help wish I could have been there. It was all so beautiful yet so simple. I'm a believer we would be so much better off without most of what we all have...
Really enjoyed this post Judy!

Hugs!

Judy, that is just such a lovely place to have lunch. When we visited Lancaster, I was wishing I could just stop at some of the Amish homes to see if it is as lovely inside as it is outside. Thank you for sharing.

I'm thinking that there is probably a place somewhere between the Amish way and our way that is probably just about right. :o))) But, I find their way of life so interesting and it seems that they are all great cooks. The luncheon looked so lovely and enjoyable. A special time for a special group of ladies. Happy rest of the week!
