Yesterday I purchased this glass cube from the many they had on a display at the Lowe's store, for $ 9.99 each. I am going to dress it up and use it as a Christmas gift. The cube has a hole cut in the top with a plastic cap over it. I took off the plastic cap and added a small strand of clear Christmas lights. Because of these pre-cut hole, I could use an electric strand of lights. The cord comes out of the hole and can then be plugged in.
I had purchased some wide sheer, gold, wired ribbon, tied it around the lit cube, added a bow, and then added some real looking faux evergreens, a faux leaf, and some pinecones to the center of the bow. This lit cube could add a touch of festivity to a powder room or a kitchen counter, or wherever you want a touch of coziness. The ways of decorating these glass cubes, are endless. I have seen people take three of these, add different colored lights to each one, wrap them as Christmas packages, and pile them on a wooden bench on their front porch, and add evergreens around them.

A simple idea for a gift for any occasion. I think this could be displayed throughout the winter season, since it does not have a Christmas only, look to it.

What a great idea. I guess the lights are battery lit? You just gave me an idea. I have something that will work like that.

In answer to the Queenmothermamaw's question. The opening at the top is for the cord to come out, and can be plugged in. These are not battery operated lights.
My dad made me one of these a few years ago. I leave it on during the whole month of December. LOVE IT!
What a great idea! I so enjoy picking up all these neat tips from other bloggers...and you are always so generous at sharing. Thanks!

You clever girl! Your "eye" never ceases to amaze me. I'd still be wondering what in thunderation to use such a glass container for (goldfish?). What a gift you have.

well isn't that cute and very clever.
Very pretty---
I like the way it looks without the lights on. It would be pretty outside too.

Judy this is so beautiful. I used to have a friend at work who used to make these. They make the most lovely gifts. Thanks for sharing ♥
I love, love this!! Now how did you manage to hide the cord so well? Does the plug come out of the cube top and then you have to plug it in the wall? Or are they battery operated xmas lights? I'm going to use your lovely idea! :-)
Hugs,
Shelley
