A Surprise 50th Birthday Party

She truly is a young looking, kind, caring, and lots of fun, 50 year old. Today we celebrated her. The red hat was the only thing that gave it away. Our dear friend of many years was totally surprised and we were happy that we were able to pull it off. The red hat is one given to her by another friend who had to wear it at her party. A "pass around red hat". Who will get it next?

We decided to have a box luncheon. White toddler size shoe boxes were used. Faux flowers from the Dollar store and ribbon from Tuesday Morning store were put together into a small bouquet and hot glued onto each box. The pretty little tags were purchased from the Dollar General store, stamped with "Happy Birthday" and sprinkled with a bit of glitter. Inside each one we had pink paper filler. Just for your information, I found boxes of 20 adorable little tags at the Dollar General. They had recently received them and I was excited to find them. They were so attractively created, as were the packages of note cards that were included in the same display.

With plain white boxes, the choices of colors and embellishments are endless.

We filled each box with a turkey and cheese wrap from Costco, a bag of Herr's Potato Chips(my very favorite!!!), a small plastic package of baby carrots and ranch dip from the grocery store, my sister-in-law's famous molasses cookies and the birthday girl's favorite candy(peanut M&Ms).

This is a quick and easy method of having a party. Everyone contributed the individual foods, so all that was necessary was to pack each box right before the surprise. These packed boxes would be fun to use for a big picnic also. They stack nicely in a big cooler.

At the one end of this table was my neice and her precious twin daughters. They must have felt special to receive so much attention.

The birthday girl's favorite dessert is cheesecake, which is what my sister-in-lawdid to create this masterpiece. She took and doctored up an original cheesecake with a layer of lemon yogurt, fresh strawberries and blueberries on top. What an exquisited looking birthday cake!! Wait until you see the next picture...the inside of this beauty.

A memorable day for a group of friends to celebrate one dear "50" year old lady.

Soooo pretty....she does NOT Look 50! I love the boxes and all your details. Yes be careful as per your computer....make sure you delete temp files and cookies everytime you go on your computer...they can make it susceptible to viruses. Also forwarded jokes etc. from friends..can have viruses...they may not even know they have one. Just make sure you have a good anti-virus program and you should be fine. cherry
